text: SILVER ARROWS ON TARGET FOR A RECORD GATHERING AT THE 2009 GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED In just five weeks time, a record number of legendary pre-War ‘Silver Arrows’ German racers will gather at the Festival of Speed from 3-5 July as part of Goodwood’s celebrations to mark 75 years since the first appearance of the dominant Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz competition cars. Recognising this important moment in motor racing history, Goodwood plans to gather together the largest collection of Silver Arrows racers ever seen in one location, with at least a dozen or more Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz cars scheduled to attend the 2009 Festival. The Silver Arrows name (Silberpfeile in German) was adopted by the press as a mark of respect for the all-conquering Nazi-backed Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix cars that raced pre-War between 1934 and 1939. The Silver Arrows tag was also applied post-War to the Mercedes-Benz Formula One cars of 1954/55. Famous Mercedes-... read more @ 1934 Audi 'Silver Arrow' to be at Goodwood Festival of Speed

text: THIS CAR IS BEING LISTED AT $1 WITH NO RESERVE, SO IT WILL SELL……….PLEASE HAVE YOUR FINANCES IN ORDER BEFORE BIDDING!!! This car was built in the 80's in Iowa by Jim and LeAnne Larson (see photo of build tag), then was sold to a family in Missouri. The car faithfully carried its 'family' from sea to shining sea and on vacations and extended cruises / shows runs / etc. Once the kids 'grew up', the car was stored away around the mid-90's and kind of forgotten about for 20 years. I pulled the car out of storage recently and got it running / driving / stopping. It still does need to be gone through front to back and checked over for safety items before she hits the road again, but if you are handy that wouldn't be that big of a deal. Here's what I love about the car: Classic Hot Rod formula……Super cool 30's car + Small Block Chevy + TH350 + Modern at the time front suspension / brakes + modern at the time rear end + Nice interior + Nice paint = Totally ... read more @ 1934 Chevrolet STREETROD

1934 Chevrolet Coupe E85 Hot Rod - Vintage Style with Modern Fuel
text: FLEXFUEL CHEVY HOT ROD DEMONSTRATES VINTAGE STYLE AND MODERN ALTERNATIVE-FUEL PERFORMANCE With a 500-horsepower engine, a channeled body and a chopped top, GM's custom street rod looks right at home on the salt flats of Bonneville. But instead of a traditional gasoline V-8, this '34 Chevy replica rod sports a turbocharged 2.0L Ecotec engine that runs on E85 ethanol. Appropriately, it has been dubbed the FlexFuel Chevy Hot Rod. 'Since the 1930's, hot rods have embodied American ingenuity, aesthetic flair and the quest for performance,' said Bryan Nesbitt, vice-president of General Motors North American Design. 'The ethanol Hot Rod is a modern statement that today's hot rodder can address energy concerns about the consumption of petroleum without sacrificing performance or style.' The car's low-slung stance and stripped-down essence suggests track cars and speed racers of the late 1940s and early 1950s. text: New development: Driver's side rear axle snapped (during test drive - of course!) New parts have been secured and car should be put togerther within days but it is not drivable at this moment. I bought this car from a family in Kansas in the spring of 2004. They had owned it since new and it had been grandpa’s car. It had been kept in storage and had last run in the early 1990’s. I bought it rather impulsively over Ebay and I was attracted by the original nature of the car. It was tired, but all there with no rust anywhere. I had it shipped out and when it arrived it was clear there was a lot to be done. It was a black car and while I prefer to stay original, I couldn’t live with this color so I decided to have it painted light grey. We matched one of six original color choices for 1934 using original paint samples. The mechanical aspects of the car were simpler to deal with. The car had only 33,000 original miles and it had always been well-maintained. ... read more @ 1934 Chrysler Airflow

From Seller: Only ten JN models were manufactured, and they all carried bodies built by Rollston of New York. Of those ten, only three JNs were convertible sedans, and convertible sedan J-570 is unique among all of them as the most original, authentic, complete example. Purchased new on September 2, 1936 by William H. Dunning of Ft. Worth Texas, president of Sequoia Oil Company. Uncommon in even the rarefied atmosphere of Duesenberg collecting, J-570 remains in original configuration, with its original body, chassis, and engine, most likely due to thoughtful stewardship throughout its life, as well as the unusual and jaw-droppingly gorgeous bodywork for which there is no possible upgrade. text: From FordHouse.org Grace, style and a 77-year history shrouded in mystery. For decades, Edsel Ford's 1934 Model 40 Special Speedster has intrigued automotive collectors, enthusiasts and writers worldwide. After a year-long restoration taking it back to its timeless elegance, the Speedster was unveiled at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in Monterey County, Calif. in August 2011 and is travelling to museums and car shows throughout the country. Part of the permanent collection of Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, the 1934 Model 40 Special Speedster is an example of the elegance and artistry of Edsel Ford's impact on design and the style revolution of the 1930s. Its rich history began in 1932 after Edsel returned from a trip to Europe. He asked Ford's chief designer, E.T. 'Bob' Gregorie to design and supervise the construction of a personal sports car similar to those he'd see 'on the continent.' The first design reportedly disappointed Edsel because it ... read more @ 1934 Ford Model 40 Special Speedster

The bodywork on this car is exceptional. Take a look at the photos and look carefully down the sides of those long panels, this is a very straight car. The paintwork is done to an exceptionally high standard, and is nicely offset by a gray pinstripe. The panel fit is very good as is the chrome. The interior is beautifully restored also. Fitted with the optional and correct folding passenger seat, the upholstery is done in the correct black both on the seats and the sidewalls and the wood floor has been beautifully refinished as well. Mechanically the truck is fabulous. The flathead V8 starts easily, and runs smoothly. A very rare and desirable feature on this delivery is a ... read more @ 1934 Ford Sedan Delivery V8 black

text: 1934 Packard V-12 This 7 passenger touring automobile has just come off of a frame off restoration. In 1934 the country was deep in the depression and luxury cars were difficult to sell, especially the big 12 and 16 cylinder automobiles. It was because of this that production numbers were considerably small. Records indicate that Packard made only 15 of these 1934 12 cylinder 7 passenger automobiles. Some of these cars were owned by government entities and were used as parade cars. Here you have the rare opportunity to obtain one of these magnificent automobiles in a fresh, fully restored fashion. Records indicate that only 8 of these cars are still in existence. Little is known about the early history of this particular car but the present owner purchased it from the estate of a devoted enthusiast in Connecticut. Since then no cost has been spared in the complete restoration. The bright work is freshly chromed and even the wheels are done accordingly. Packard's response was to redouble its efforts, meeting the threat from Cadillac and Lincoln head on with the new Twin Six and a range of spectacular custom bodies. One of the most respected designers of the classic era, Ray Dietrich was also one of the most influential. 1934 SS Mk I Tourer
text: These were the cars that began Jaguars illustrious competition history. This forerunner to the SS 100 is a very rare classic and a wonderful piece of Jaguar's early history. I have a Heritage Certificate showing the chassis #247989 belonging to this car, being manufactured the 26 of May 1934. The original color was Lake, and the original owner was DG Foster, of Sutton Coldfield, England. The engine number is 248490 which is not the original engine, though it is an appropriate SS engine believed to originally been from an SS Airline. The English registration number on the car was AOE 555. The car was restored in 2001. The car runs and drives well, it has scored over 99 points at 2 shows. It comes with tools, new side curtains, and very rare original 24 page sales manual and an original instruction book.
