2012 Fiat 500 - A Bunch for BolognaSource: FiatTorino, Italy portfolio | web site Posted: 22 Nov 2011 Press Release: 21.11.2011 - Fiat 500 With the prestigious 5-star Euro NCAP and 40 awards it has won internationally to date, the new car has proven since its launch in July 2007 that it is not merely a super-compact city car, but an authentic platform upon which Fiat Automobiles is building a whole family of cars with technology and attention to detail worthy of a higher category. It is not by chance that the Fiat 500 has introduced a host of new products and achieved major records in its segment. The new products also arrived thick and fast: 500 by Diesel (September 2008), 500 Pink (June 2009), 500C (July 2009), 500C by Diesel (June 2010), 500 TwinAir (July 2010), 500 Matt Black (September 2010), two-tone 500 (December 2010), 500 and 500C by Gucci (in April and August 2011, respectively), 500 TwinAir with "byAbarth" pack (September 2011) and the brand new Nation limited edition that is being presented in its world preview precisely in Bologna. Nation Limited Edition With just 500 numbered units made in the saloon version and 500 in the convertible version, the new Fiat 500 Nation Limited Edition is the tribute that the brand dedicates to the great countries where the car is sold. The first edition pays homage to the United States, celebrating the arrival of the 500 in North America and the beginning of collaboration with the American pop singer Jennifer Lopez. Besides, a cool icon of Italian style but with a marked pop soul, the Fiat 500 continues to capture attention also across the ocean both for having won over the US audience and having renewed the product placement and communications fields by making an appearance paired up with Jennifer Lopez. In fact, for the new videoclip of the "Papi" track taken from the "Love?" album (Island Def Jam), the multitalented artist wanted to drive a Fiat 500. A 30- and 60-second commercial - nothing short of a trailer of the music clip- was born after this marriage between artist and car. In the Saloon version, the 500 Nation America Limited Edition is offered in the exclusive metallic shade America Blue and it is distinguished by mirror fairings with "Stars & Stripes" graphics, stickers, dedicated beltline and 16" alloy wheels with red cap edge. American inspiration and iconography are also found in the interiors with red/ivory seats and contrasting white dashboard. The white three-layer paint and "Stars & Stripes" mirror fairings are combined with the red top and the graphics in the colours of the American flag in the beltline in the convertible version. In this case the elegant 16" alloy wheels are finished with a blue rim edge. The 500 Nation is equipped as standard with manual air conditioning and is enriched with the kit complete with exterior chrome-plating in both saloon and convertible versions. Lastly, a badge on the pillar bearing the serial number of this limited edition makes this car unique. The new 500 Nation America Limited Edition can be ordered starting from late February 2012 at the approximate price of Euro 14,500 for the saloon version and Euro 18,000 for the convertible. Fiat TwinAir 500 and the new "byAbarth" Pack The Fiat 500 TwinAir trim level combines the revolutionary two-cylinder engine with dedicated look and engineering contents that identify a genuine product line. In particular, the new offer is a response to the extraordinary appreciation displayed by the international press and the general public. Already today one 500 out of three sold in Europe is equipped with the TwinAir engine. The success of this engine is accompanied by the numerous awards it has won, including the "International Engine of the Year 2011". With the 85 HP of this extraordinary engine, the 500 TwinAir guarantees maximum "fun to drive", low fuel consumption and the lowest emissions in the world for a petrol engine as well as a highly satisfying retro sound reminiscent of the first legendary 500's. On the outside, harking back to the look of the Fiat "competition" series of the 1970s, the 500 TwinAir offers high impact details such as special burnished "antracite" trim, a "piano black" (optional) roof and matt black wheels as standard. The same highly individual touch is apparent inside, where the Total Black environment with sports seats and the burnished dashboard fascia exalt the centrality of the innovative "Blue&Me TomTom 2 LIVE", the latest development of the Blue&Me infotainment system that not only manages telephone, navigation, media player and all information required for driving by means of a colour touchscreen, but "Live" technology as well, which updates - in real time - maps, traffic conditions, local searches and weather directly on the device. The TwinAir version extends the Fiat 500 offer by directly addressing an urban and dynamic audience. Because in addition to guaranteeing fun and maximum driving satisfaction, the 500 TwinAir offers product content with great personality and great value to customers. This concept was well conveyed also by the European advertising campaign "Everyday Fun" with a special spokesperson: Fernando Alonso, the Ferrari Formula 1 world champion. Just to emphasize the sporty and dynamic soul of the 500 TwinAir, Fiat has also created the new "byAbarth Pack". The customisation kit, developed in close collaboration with Abarth, is characterised by the "Total Black" 16" special alloy wheels with Abarth hub caps, side skirts, rear spoiler, racing graphics on the bonnet and a sporty pedal unit. The new "Pack byAbarth" is available from November as an option combined with the Pasodoble Red and Crossover Black exterior colours. Separate mention must be made of the 85 HP TwinAir Turbo - forerunner of a new two-cylinder engine family from Fiat Powertrain, with performance levels between 65 and 105 HP - which emphasises the fun driving qualities of this car while returning excellent performance levels, borne out by a top speed of 173 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 11 seconds. When compared with the 100 HP 1.4 engine, the 85 HP TwinAir delivers a torque increase of 25% at 2,000 rpm despite a reduction of 30% in fuel consumption. This remarkable performance offers significant driving satisfaction and a significant reduction in fuel consumption: 4.0 l/100 km and 4.1 l/100 km in the combined cycle with a Dualogic robotised gearbox and manual gearbox respectively. It should also be noted that the Fiat 500 TwinAir boasts the best CO2 emission levels in the world for a petrol engine: 90 g/km with Dualogic robotised gearbox and 92 g/km with manual gearbox. This is thanks to the small-sized turbine which, combined with dedicated valve management strategies, minimises transient response times and, at the same time, keeps maximum power levels high. In this way, despite its small size, the engine ensures excellent performance and an appreciable reduction in fuel consumption: compared with a 1.2 8v, the 85 HP TwinAir records a power increase of 25% despite a 15% reduction in fuel consumption. In fact, the performance of the twin-cylinder unit is not only equivalent to a 1.4 16v, but its fuel consumption is a remarkable 30% less. The maximum torque (in Normal mode) of 145 Nm at 1900 rpm also guarantees performance and immediate response for a sportier drive. If you prefer to prioritise the green aspect and great fuel economy, you can always press the ECO key to limit torque to 100 Nm at 2000 rpm. The 85 HP TwinAir unit also comes with Start&Stop as standard. This device temporarily stops the engine and restarts it, ensuring reductions in fuel consumption and noise in the passenger compartment when the device is in operation. The Gear Shift Indicator (GSI) fitted in conjunction with the Start&Stop is a veritable co-pilot that discreetly suggests to drivers when they should change gear, leading to more efficient use of the power unit in terms of fuel consumption. For example, the GSI may suggest shifting up, by means of an indication on the control panel, to allow the engine to burn a leaner mixture, i.e. one containing less fuel, or shifting down to make best use of the available torque. Fiat "500C by Gucci" On the wave of the remarkable interest aroused by the "500 by Gucci", Fiat and Gucci are presenting the "500C by Gucci", the convertible version as well customised by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini in collaboration with the Centro Stile Fiat. All the exclusivity of the "500 by Gucci" - attention to detail, feeling of elegance and style - is enhanced in this new version, and made even more attractive by the innovative electric soft top for opening a "window onto the sky". The new convertible version is available in two sophisticated body colours: white with matte chrome-plated elements and glossy black with shiny chrome-plated accents. For both, the soft top is black with the characteristic green-red-green Gucci web pattern printed lengthwise (the same graphic pattern is sported on the side of the saloon). Furthermore, the side pillars of the saloon version are maintained and with its special sliding electric top the Fiat "500C by Gucci" can be enjoyed all year round. The exterior of the Fiat "500C by Gucci" is embellished by 16" alloy wheels characterised by the unmistakable retro design of the spokes, in perfect harmony with the exterior colours: an absolute first for cars in this category. The hub caps have a double "G" logo in matching body colour and the Gucci signature in italics is displayed on the tailgate and on the door pillar. The passenger compartment of the Fiat 500 by Gucci also brims with style: stylish stitching, exclusive materials, satin and polished chrome-plated elements, a velvet-effect finish on the radio panel and two-tone Frau leather seats with Guccissima print. The "Gucci" web theme also appears on the seats, gearbox, key cover, mats and, with an innovative finish, on the seat belts. Fiat "500C by Gucci" is come complete with a great deal of standard equipment: automatic climate control system, seven airbags (front, side, window and knee), Blue&Me system integrated with rear parking sensors, car radio with CD-MP3 player and leather steering wheel with radio controls. An original "500C by Gucci" tour took off in August. It made stops in several of Europe's most glamorous cities: Saint Tropez, Forte dei Marmi, Rome, Berlin, Florence, Barcelona, Milan, London and Geneva. A striking crystal cube with elegant shiny black lacquered bottom and top was set up for each stage of the tour. Inside, set like a precious jewel, an example of the exclusive cabriolet is on show. At night, the installation light up creating a suggestive atmosphere that further enhance the elegant car and the prestigious location. The stage is completed by three small showcases displaying some of the articles in the "500 by Gucci" collection, which comprises travel accessories, small leather goods, track suits, bomber jackets, driving gloves, eyewear and a watch. Like the saloon version before, an original advertising campaign has been created for the Fiat "500C by Gucci" in which the car features next to model Natasha Poly. The selected Fiat dealerships that is displaying the "500C by Gucci" will receive copies of an exclusive lifestyle brochure created as a fashion catalogue and designed to bring out the class and one-of-a-kind nature of this extraordinary interpretation of the glamorous world of 500 in artistic photographs.

From WikipediaThe Fiat 500 is a car produced by the Fiat company of Italy between 1957 and 1975, with limited production of the Fiat 500 K estate continuing until 1977. The car was designed by Dante Giacosa. Launched as the Nuova (new) 500 in July 1957, it was a cheap and practical town car. Measuring only 3 metres (~10 feet) long, and originally powered by an appropriately-sized 479 cc two-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the 500 redefined the term "small car" and is considered one of the first city cars. |
