Six passenger station wagon with its original 455 engine, turbo 400 automatic transmission and a long list of cool options. This vista cruiser is done in beautiful viking blue paint with a blue bucket seat interior with a floor console shifted automatic transmission. This oldsmobile wagon is not only beautiful in appearance from most any angle but it is also a truly wonderful automobile from its beautiful viking blue paint to its gorgeous blue interior and super nice trim. This olds vista cruiser wagon is an excellent running car which still retains its original 455 cubic inch 4 barrel engine. The engine starts easily and runs very strong with no unusual noises, no smoke and no problems.... Just a very healthy numbers matching engine. The turbo 400 transmission is in wonderful working order and shifts exactly as it should through the gears with no slipping or noises..... Just good crisp shifts with no problems. The transmission is shifted by way of the oldsmobile factory floor shifter which is mounted in the original oldsmobile console.... All very nice and clean and in perfect working order. The body on this 1971 vista cruiser wagon is dead straight and as solid as a rock with beautiful viking blue paint with the cool white stripe package and w30 emblems on the front fenders. This car shows no signs of any prior collision damage or at least nothing that i was able to see after looking the body over from every angle including putting the car up on a lift to inspect the frame and undercarriage..... All looks super solid clean and original! The body on this 1971 vista cruiser wagon is super nice from top to bottom and i cant imagine that anybody would be disappointed with the condition of the body and paint or the overall condition of the car for that matter. This is just a beautifully restored car that you would be proud to own and drive and you can rest assured that you will not run into another car like this at any car show or cruise night event.
Before i go into a very long description about this wonderful olds wagon, let me start off by saying that i have no documention to prove that this beautiful vista cruiser wagon is a 442 w30 car but it surely looks the part of a factory or dealer built car and is equipped with many of the correct original 442 / w-30 parts and most importantly, this is an original matching numbers 455 car with its original vin stamped engine. We all know the stories of the oldsmobile 'wonder wagon' and of several factory built 442 w30 wagons which all seemed to have disappeared except for the yellow 1970 vista cruiser 442 w30 wagon which is said to be part of a large collection of rare muscle cars. That car is said to be a true 442 w30 vista cruiser wagon that was owned by the editor of popular hot rodding magazine before it made its way to another collector of muscle cars where it now resides in his personal collection. There was also a rally red 1970 oldsmobile cutlass cruiser(non vista cruiser) 442 w30 wagon that was built back in 1970 and made itself known very early in its life with several road test before it dropped off the face of the earth. The rally red car was said to have gone through one of the larger classic car auctions in the country a few years back and had an 'estimated' pre-sale price of $100,000 - $125,000. As time went on, it is said that the rally red car was in fact a beautifully restored clone of the rare factory built car. Ive spoken to several vista cruiser collectors who have told me stories of other 442 w30 wagons that were said to have been built between 1968 and 1972 but that very few have surfaced. It is also said that there were a total of (6) 1972 olds vista cruiser 442 wagons which were converted by hurst for the 1972 indianapolis 500 race and all of the cars were used for different purposes from 'ambulances' to 'press' cars and so on..... Several of the original 1972 hurst olds vista cruiser wagons have survived and are in the hands of private collectors. There are also at least (3) 1972 vista cruiser 442 wagon that were built of which (1) has survived and is documented and that car is absolutely beautiful. It is said that more of these factory/dealer built vista cruiser 442 wagons were built between 68-72 but i have no further information on these cars nor can i prove that they are still around. The bottom line is, these rare cars were either factory built/dealer built or hurst converted and were documented all the way back to their beginnings when multiple magazines either wrote about or tested these cars. These rare wagons are always of interest to the oldsmobile faithful as well as to wagon enthusiast throughout the world. With all of that said, i can say without any uncertainty, the new owner of this 1971 olds vista cruiser 442 w30 wagon shown here will be thrilled with their purchase. This is an amazing car that is a blast to drive and will give you many years of pleasure whether your into showing your car or into driving them.... Rest assured this car will not disappoint!

I am not an oldsmobile option code expert but this is where my research has led me and this car is not only beautiful and a pleasure to drive but it is also very well equipped and ready to hit the road for cruising or for your local car shows or cruise night events. I do know my cars and i can tell you that this is a beautiful car with super nice original sheet metal and is as solid as they come. The undercarriage is nice and solid and clean throughout. It appears to have a light coating of the factory style undercoating and nothing more.... Just a nice solid car with a wonderful body and tremendous eye appeal. The floors and frame look wonderful as does the body...... Dead straight with very nice paint!
This 1971 oldsmobile is equipped with what is believed to be its original matching numbers 455 engine and turbo 400 automatic transmission. I use the word 'believed' because i did not confirm the numbers on the transmission although the original transmission id tag is still in place and appears to be coded correctly. The 455 cubic inch engine shows the partial vin number clearly stamped on the drivers side of the engine just below the cylinder head so it obviously has its original 455 engine. The intake manifold is the 'olds w-45' aluminum intake with the 'winters' snowflake and the carburetor is the correct 1971 olds 455 rochester quadra-jet which is topped off by the fresh air induction air cleaner with the vacum solenoid activated flapper door which allows the fresh air to enter the carburetor after being somewhat filtered by the screen mounted on the underside of the 'w25' oai hood..........Everything from the hood to the engine compartment appears to be in very nice condition. The cars air conditioning is complete and clean and is original to the car..... It even works and looks nice and clean!!! The car is also equipped with variable power steering which works like new along with the big power front disc brakes which stop this cruiser on a dime! The lightweight red inner aprons are in nice original condition and really catch your eye when you lift the hood for the first time. The radiator is the big factory heavy duty unit and the 455 4 barrel engines runs well and has no problems with overheating. The engine compartment has a nice original appearance throughout and everything appears to be clean, correct and in its proper place. The hood opens and closes easily and the hood mounted chrome locks work as they should with no problems.
This 1971 olds vista cruiser 442 w-30 wagon was beautifully restored appoximately 10 years ago and still looks beautiful today with less than 1,500 miles since the restoration! This wagon has been garage kept for much of its 41 years which is obvious by the super nice original body panels and the lack any rust issues or any signs of previous rust repair. The body is nice and straight with nice panel fit and finish. The paint is very nice in beautiful viking blue. This awesome oldsmobile vista cruiser/ 442 wagon with the w-30 package is an amazing looker and it runs and drives every bit as well as she looks! This is one of those super cool cars that you can drive anywhere and be absolutely sure that you will never look over and see another like it. The interior in this vista cruiser wagon is beautiful and as close to as new as your likely to see on any vista cruiser wagon. The bucket seats, rear seat, dash pad, carpets, door panels, console, headliner, sun visors, rear cargo area are all in beautiful condition. The console is gorgeous as is the original oldsmobile shifter with the original oldsmobile woodgrain shift knob..... All in excellent working order. The seats fold down as they should and everything looks super nice whether the seats are folded down or in the upright position. This car has a large cargo area when the seats are folded down making this vista cruiser perfect for transporting your groceries or using it as a place to lay down and catch some sleep if your on a long trip or cruise. The pictures of the interior do not do this wagon any justice as i believe the interior is actually nicer in person. The seat covers are beautiful and the original oldsmobile bucket seats are very comfortable. The bucket seats adjust perfectly with the factory knob thats located on the sides of the seats and the original seat locks work perfectly as well. The seat backs on the bucket seats are beautiful as is the original trim around the bucket seats. The rear seat is beautiful as well with all of the original steel folding mechanism in good working order and looking as though it was just built by oldsmobile..... Everything is super clean including the chrome locking mechanism for the rear seats. The vinyl trim in the rear cargo area is super nice and was all professionally restored with all of the proper materials and all of the correct seams have been properly stitched. The rear storage area was properly restored and is rust free. It was repainted while the restoration was being done and everything operates as it should. The hidden cargo door under the rear floor is super clean and the original prop rod is still in place. The carpeting in the cargo area is beautiful and is a nice crisp correct blue although some of the photos make it slightly faded.... I assure you that the carpeting throughout the car is just beautiful from the drivers compartment to the carpeting on the lower door panels to the carpeting on the tailgate! The garnish moldings are beautiful and really make everything jump out at you while looking through the interior. The storage area under the rear cargo area is beautifully refinished with absolutely no signs of rust or any other problems for that matter. The entire rear cargo area was restored with all new correct carpeting and all of the stainless steel strips professionally polished. The window seals were replaced as were all of the weather stripping when the restoration was done. The seats are done in the correct vinyl with new seat cushions and all new padding. The instrument cluster bezel was restored with the chrome plating redone and all new woodgrain. The console and shifter are super nice with an excellent working shifter with beautiful chrome and a nice original woodgrain shift ball. The console is super clean and the storage compartment works as it should and locks and unlocks properly. The dash pad is beautiful as is the blue paint on the upper section of the dash and all of the surrounding dash trim looks absolutely beautifu as well. The carpets look like new as does the headliner, seats and door panels with nice crisp blue coloring throughout. The original rear seat sun visors are very nice and have crisp beautiful blue color although the pictures make them look a little dull.... They are nice!!! The glass in the car is beautiful from the windshield to the tailgate glass to the roof glass which is the optional mirrored tinted glass...... All of the glass is very nice and all of the original trim that surrounds the roof glass, side glass and windshield is beautiful and was professionally polished when the car was restored. The front and rear bumpers were profesionally triple chrome plated and many of the chrome, aluminum and stainless trim pieces were either replaced with nos parts or were professionally restored as well. The tailgate is the 2 way tailgate and works perfectly from both positions. It allows you to open the tailgate straight down or you can open it and have it swing out to the drivers side of the car which then allows for easy entry to the cargo area with the factory step thats built into the rear bumper. The black rubber weather stripping that goes along the bottom of the tailgate area and covers the top of the bumper was replaced with an nos piece and looks great. The taillight lenses were replaced with no lenses. The grills are super nice and clean as is all of the trim along the front of the car. The doors all open and close nicely with that nice original 'click' that you find in good gm cars of this era. The doors lock and unlock with the keys. The power windows all go up and down nicely including the power tailgate window. The electrical system in this car was never butchered up as everything seems to work as it should from the headlights, high and low beams, turn signals, brake lights, license plate light, parking lights and even the interior lights work properly although they are out in the pictures because the fuse was removed for car shows. When you leave the hood open and the doors are opened and closed all day long it can put a drain on the battery so the fuse was temporarily removed to keep the battery from draining during car shows. The in dash electric clock even works!!!!! The 4 spoke custom sports steering wheel is beautiful and the horn works as it should. The only thing that doesnt work properly is the cruise control although it is 100% complete and i have never really looked into figuring out what the problem is. Im sure its an easy fix. The factory am-fm stereo works although it doesnt sound nearly as good as the sound systems that we have in our cars today but it works well enough to listen to some tunes while your on a road trip if youd like. I think it would sound much better with a set of new speakers although its not necessary. The power tailgate window works well from the original dash mounted switch or from the tailgate with the original keys. The dash lights all work properly making things very nice when your out cruising in the evening. The lights over the heater controls as well as the lights over the rear tailgate window switch, windshield wiper & cruise control switches all light up nice and bright........ Even the shift indicator light in the console works properly so you can always see exactly what gear you've put the shifter into. The car has the original oldsmobile rally iii wheels which are painted body color and look absolutely outstanding. The trim rings and center caps are very nice and the tires are beautiful bf goodrich t/a radials. The original 455 engine runs very well and has a great sound even at cold starts at idle with the choke working properly and the engine sounds even better once its up to proper operating temperature. The car has a full dual exhaust system which includes new old school turbo mufflers which give the car a great rumble at just about any speed. This has a wonderful sound that is just right in my opinion..... Not too loud yet loud enough to let everybody at your local cruise night gathering know that you've arrived! The bottom line is, this is a beautiful 1971 oldsmobile vista cruiser wagon that is nicely restored and is an absolute pleasure to look at or drive. If this a 442 w-30, who knows? It is equipped with its original vin stamped 455 engine with a long list of super cool options and is an absolutely striking color combination. This car needs nothing to be enjoyed today! You will be the hit at your local cruise night or car club gathering or even at your local car shows. This car has certainly won its fair share of trophies.
Im sure there are many things that i left out such as the rebuilt front suspension and some suspension upgrades that were made over the years along with some nos and mint used parts that go with the car. There only real issues that i can think of are that the cruise control is not currently working although its 100% complete and the air conditioning is nice and clean and works although there is a leak in the system as it was checked last summer and the air conditioning needs to be charged every summer..... Again likely an easy fix with either an 'o' ring or line that needs replacing. The paint on this car is very nice and looks awesome with no major issues. There is a very small bubble under the paint on the tailgate right below the aluminum tailgate trim and that is smaller than a dime. There are no other real issues with the paint and there are no dents or dings on this car. The body is outstanding!!!! The paint is very nice and anybody would be very proud to own this very cool and unusual wagon. The car runs very strong with no noises and no smoke. The car pulls hard through the power-band and makes more than enough horsepower to get you moving along comfortably under any conditions. The transmission shifts dead on the money and works perfectly. This car just runs great and drives like new. There are no issues that i have been able to find and i have driven this car under all kinds of conditions from heavy bumper to bumper traffic on a hot 95 degree summer day without any overheating problems to cruising along the pennsylvania turnpike at 85 mph without so much as a single issue. This car cruises along beautifully and goes down the road nice and straight and has a nice tight frontend yet it steers easily with one finger. The car stops easily with the big front power disc brakes and there is no unusual pulling from one side to the other..... Just an absolute pleasure to drive!!!
