In 1995 the order was given by the wife of a local billionaire to her staff person to find and purchase the finest 300SL roadster in existence as a gift for her husband's birthday. This car was located when it took BEST OF SHOW at MEADOWBROOK that year. This is the most prestigious invitation only show in America. Scott Grundfor Restorations had it prepared for the show at a cost of $100,000.00. It has been driven 944 miles since then. That's about 63 miles per year.

First owner until 1995 was Lane Weitzman in California. Purchased new as a toy with optional chrome wheels and a radio. He owned a factory that made and distributed the large round bubble gum balls and dispensed them in 1cent machines all over the country. The car was hand-made in 12/57. All wheels are matching dated 11/57.The car has had no rust ever. It was always a California car. He parked it on display in his office lobby, when not in use, as a conversation piece.

The paint is mostly original although it has had some touch-ups over the years. No accidents ever. No sheet metal has ever been replaced. The chrome is in show condition. Red with tan leather. Serial No. 198042-7500584 The car runs and drives perfectly. It has no issues. The convertible top is as new. The leather and carpets are the original that came with the car and are still in very good condition. This is what they call a survivor. 4 speed stick. The tires are new Michelin original type with less than 1k miles. The spare tire is still the original unused, that came with the car when it was new.

A pleasure to drive. Just super-tuned and runs out strong, loud, and smooth. [No, the exhaust is tight] Everything operates as intended including clock and radio. Has 60 pounds of oil pressure at hot idle which indicates the excellent internal motor condition. Comes with original tool kit, owners manual, parts manual, and service books, and original keys in original factory leather case.
