The Jaguar D-Type won Le Mans from 1955-1957. The 1955 win came after the race-leading Mercedes-Benz SLR collided with another car, spun out of control into the barrier, burst into flames and careened into the crowd, killing at least 80 people, including the driver, Pierre Levegh.
