1953 Porsche 356 Cabriolet Super 1500 Pre-ASource: private partyAnytown, U.S.A. portfolio Posted: 18 Nov 2009 Specs & DetailsExterior Color: greyInterior Color: red Engine: 4 Transmission: manual Miles Driven: 30,433 One owner since 1956 Fashion gray/red leather from factory Over 52 years in storage here in Dallas,TX Never been in an accident 33,400 factory orig miles All five factory original 16" wheels with beauty rings All three factory original keys Factory original drivers manual and pre A Reutter maintanance manual excellent cond. No factory tool kit ,perivious owner never recieved it. Has Hazet tool kit never been used and orig factory jack. Engine: Super engine dropped a valve in 1957 damaged the orig engine case and one piston/cylinder and Cab was parked long time ,later PO bought NOS Factory new Crank Case,two super heads,one new Super P/C,new bearings in late 60's from Huffman motors,NY With the Original factory roller bearing crank, engine was rebuild and stored as long block,engine turns freely w/high compression. All the sheet metal,generator,oil pump,carbs etc.temporaly installed on the engine to show the completeness. Body: Been 56 years old has solid original floors with weak spots on the driver rear floor and in battery box. Untauched Original factory convertable top and small window and all the interior. Cab was painted Ivory( which is mostly gone showing the factory fashion gray) either by the dealer Huffman motors,NY in first days or the original owner Robert J Kelley an architect have her painted in first year with superb detail job in painting which only a Porsche dealer can get this detail in those days.Painting is done for pleausure not because of damage or else.PO tought Ivory was the original paint when he purchased her in 1956 ... Cabriolet does not have the original engine case # 40130 in 1957 original crank case was damaged when a valve guide dropped in the piston. Previous owner bought from Porsche dealer Hoffman motors,NY late sixties New Porsche crank case which does not have any # on it. Pictures show the 1500 super roller bearing engine after rebuild with New NOS Porsche Crank case no number,brand new NOS super heads and one new NOS p/c ,Engine was on the shelve over 35 years as seen in the pictures.Engine case is dusty needs cleaning no damage to crank case from storage.Engine turns freely and smooth with great compression and installed in the car temporally to show the car complete all together. Previous owner mentioned 1970s when he was moving the cabriolet from one storage to other by rolling ,the drivers door cought a tree next to drive way and bent the bottom door stop and put a small dent on the door top garnish rail and aligment in front of the door got very tight. removed some lead from front of the door to open and close freely,please see the pictures. Small section chipped away long ago on the driver door glass. Original factory keys and Factory original owners manual and Reutter pre A maintenance manual. This cabriolet must be a prototype one to check the cost of doing wire beating like the fender arches, on the full nose, please see the above pictures.Have never seen this in other 53 pre A cars but 356 Carrera GT coupes had it.
