About This 1949 Chrysler Town and CountryArguably one of the finest American automobiles ever produced, the Town & Country series was introduced in 1941 and produced until 1950. The 1949 model year boasted a re-design and was the last Convertible Woodie offered. Only 993 of these stunning cars were sold in 1949. Less than 150 are believed to survive today. The interior showcases a luxurious factory upholstry. The Tan cord cloth is complimented by burgundy vinyl and matching piping. The dash retains all of its original brightwork and gauges. The dials and lenses are well-preserved as is the beautiful 3-spoke Chrysler steering wheel. Chrysler utilized the semi-automatic fluid drive transmission. The new Tan fabric convertible top is power operated and functions correctly via the original dash control. All of the windows mechanisms function correctly. The two-piece windshield is in very good condition too.
The engine compartment displays the factory 323 c.i. Spitfire 8. The L head 8 cylinder engine is rated at 135 horsepower. This is a turn-key car. The engine runs strong and smooth at idle. Be sure to play the video/sound movie clips to hear this Chrysler. The 4 wheel hydraulic drum brake system functions correctly as well.
The exterior retains all of its original brightwork. This is a beautiful car. Take notice of the woods finish and the quality of the rich brown finish.
