1961 Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2, Serial #2567, Eng. #312E
· Same owner for over 32 years
· Giallo Fly Yellow exterior
· Deep chocolate brown interior
· An all matching #’s car
· Less than 1,000 miles on rebuilt (original) 3-liter V-12
· Rebuilt deep dish 15” x 6.5” Borrani’s with stainless steel spokes
Many aspects of the car were done to Concours quality including bodywork, interior and engine compartment. The underside of the car is clean but has never been detailed.
For almost its entire life, it has been a California car. One of only 955 manufactured and 777 remaining, including all of the re-bodies. You see more Lusso’s and Datona’s on the market today than 250 GTE 2+2’s. If you have seen one of these cars in person, they are beautiful with very appealing lines. These were the best selling Ferrari’s of all time up to 1964 and cost nearly the same as a GTO.
Several restored examples sold last year for over $250,000 but we all know that was last year.
Since it is a buyer’s market, it’s the perfect time to purchase one of these cars as next year, it will be the 50th Anniversary of the launch of the 250 GTE 2+2 which was the first introduction at the 1960 Le Mans as the Course Marshal’s car. Also, it is a known fact that Enzo himself drove a GTE 2+2 for many years as his personal car.
