This is a Custom Riviera built originally for a Buick executive and done in Firemist Red and Black Cherry. I have stuck to his very handsome design and redone both the exterior and interior to his original design with one exception. I changed the grill from the 1984 vertically lined grill to the grill you see which was taken from a 1983 car - I just happen to think it is better looking - but I have kept the original grill and will place it in the trunk.
All Riviera convertibles were in fact Custom cars as they were originally coupes pulled off the production line and sent by Buick to the American Sunroof Corporation where they were converted into "Convertibles." They were produced from 1982 - 1985 and in 1984 only 500 were made..This car is the only one I am aware of that was made in these colors.
In 1984 the car cost $26,958 new which was on a par with its sister car the Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz and as such topped the GM models at the time. The Buick however was equipped with a far superior engine than the Caddy, the powerful and reliable Oldsmobile 307 V8.
Everything replaceable on this car has been replaced with OEM parts. The suspension rides as it did from the factory both front and rear and the Air-Ride Suspension functions as it should, automatically adjusting the ride height to the load.
The Air conditioning works perfectly and I have replaced the original radio with a top Am/FM cd system with all new speakers as well.
The Top is also new, Custom made of German Cloth and functions effortlessly at the touch of the control once the two clamps have been released.
