1976 Porsche 934/5. Excellent original race history. Modified in-period (1979). This factory 934/5 is one of the fastest available, featuring air-to-air intercooling of its big single-turbo engine. History below:

Nicholas Koob only raced this 934 once, at Zolder, before selling it at the end of 1976 to Hans Christian Jurgensen who promptly started enjoying a three year long campaign with the car, which netted him many first and second places.

In the winter of 1979/80, Armando Gonzales of Puerto Rico bought the car and gave it to Chuck Gaa of Atlanta to update with increased rollcage stiffness, a raised gearbox (to reduce drive-shaft travel), a 935-style nose and tail, and an air scoop on the rear window to funnel air into the air-to-air intercooler. Thus equipped, Gonzales raced the 934 for the next three seasons, including a trip to Le Mans, before selling it to Kikos Fonseca. Fonseca raced the car in IMSA and South American events before selling it at a ChristieÂ’s auction, as he had built a tube frame 935 by this time.

You will notice the lights and turn signals on the car. At one point, using a number plate from a 912, this car was registered and regularly driven on the street!

The year 1994 saw the 934 being exchanged for a Ferrari 275 GTB. The 934 was then stripped with a rebuild in mind, but the new owner never finished the work. Jim Torres of Burbank CoachWorks bought the project and restored it back to its 1980 configuration in 1999. 0161 has been demonstrated by Torres at Daytona and Willow Springs and is remarkably fast!

This brutal car is now eligible for almost any event in the world, including the Le Mans Classic. Please read the full race history of 0161 listed below.
