For sale is the most unique car I have owned in over 40 years of this addiction.. It is a 1923 Ford tall T coupe, that is Harley-Davidson powered. Body is in excellent condition, only being driven for 12 years. I wanted the car entirely flat black, but could not bear to repaint the fenders and doors that have the original paint or were repainted when the car was disassembled for restoration by a museum in 1975. The rest of the car was red oxide primer. Front axle and associated parts are stock T. Cross member was moved up between frame rails and 3 leaves removed from spring. Friction shocks were added. Hubs were machined from solid steel with modern bearings and Chevy bolt pattern. Steering is through Ranger box and 63 Chevy pickup column. Engine is 1994 1200 Harley Sportster, supposedly with Screaming Eagle big bore pistons and cams. I rode the bike home and sawzalled it up. It was a very fast Sportster. Drive is through a right-angle gear box with about 10 inches of semi-enclosed chain from engine to gear box, and shaft drive to S-10 rear end. Stock Harley transmission is shifted with a floor shift with the same rachet action as the motorcycle, transmitting power through a Barnette clutch. Clutch and brake pedals are Harley foot-pegs. Reverse is electric with button on the dash. Headers are a combination of Harley drag pipes and big block Chevy headers with insulating wrap. Rear suspension is Harley springs and shocks with Firebird sway-bar modified to also act as a panhard bar, wishbones are from Speedway. Wood is 95% original. Vinyl top is model A material over plywood and foam. Seat is soft orange vinyl with Harley patches. It was built to be the center of attention at local car shows, and it has been. If you want to have 10 times the number of people look at your car than any other, this is for you. Grille is hand made Spider-web with Harley emblem, new wheels, tires, new tinted glass everywhere except doors. It was built to be hauled to shows or driven around town on cruise night, but has proven so dependable it has never been on a trailer. It is probably a little low geared for long trips. The little Harley is really spinning with a top speed of probably 80 mph. The only problem so far was a failed center carrier bearing in the drive line. It was a used one and has been replaced with a new one. It is a PROJECT, it is completed, it is a show car.
