THE ULTIMATE CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR A PILOT
Up to eight classic military jet fighters and trainers!
If you’re wondering what to buy your pilot friend or lover for Christmas – worry no more! H&H Auctions has no less than eight jet-powered De Havilland Venoms and Vampires for sale by tender, which can be purchased individually or as a collection.
Based in Bournemouth, these gorgeous historic aircraft have been regular performers at events and air shows all over Europe. Known as the Source Classic Jet Flight, they were purchased over a period of time from the Swiss Air Force and assembled into a crack display team by well-known aircraft and car enthusiast Don Wood. Among their many memorable appearances was the flypast over HMS Illustrious in 1995, to mark the 50th anniversary of the first jet to land on an aircraft carrier.
On offer are: a Vampire fighter, two Vampire trainers and five Venom fighter/bombers. Successful bidders can also acquire a significant number of spares, including engines and ground handling equipment – sufficient to fill four 40-foot containers no less!
The Vampire and Venom mark a particularly successful period in British aviation history* and are considered to be a delight to fly – combining the power and smoothness afforded by jet propulsion with the simplicity and keen handling of the piston-engined Spitfire and Hurricane that preceded them. It is very rare for such desirable ex-military aircraft to come to market in operating condition.
Said Don Wood, “These iconic aeroplanes deserve to fly again and their sale represents a unique opportunity to individual pilots and collectors the world over.”
