2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Tungsten - 101EX InspiredSource: Rolls-RoyceGoodwood, West Sussex, England, United Kingdom portfolio | web site Posted: 23 Nov 2007 The Rolls-Royce 101EX experimental car, unveiled in 2006, was lauded by all for its rakish design, bold use of materials and delightful detailing. Now, the skilled craftspeople of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ Bespoke team have taken 101EX’s dynamic design cues and seamlessly applied them to the Phantom. The result is the Phantom Tungsten, the latest exclusive release from the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collection. The Phantom Tungsten is a visual feast, incorporating a range of magnificent features pioneered on 101EX - not least its ‘Xirallic’ Darkest Tungsten paint finish, which brings a new strength and definition to the Phantom’s magnificent flanks. Other highlights previewed by 101EX include the brushed aluminium bonnet and a striking new seven-spoke 21 in, forged aluminium wheels. A pair of visible, chrome-plated, stainless steel exhaust pipes complete the sporting picture. Inside, as out, the Phantom Tungsten makes a powerful statement. It is trimmed in supple, cosseting Smoke Grey leather with contrasting Navy Blue hide for the dashboard and armrests, while the high-gloss, straight-grained East Indian Rosewood veneer brings unique warmth and beauty to the Phantom Tungsten’s intimate and inviting interior. Further tactility, not to mention a vivid flash of modernity, is provided by the Phantom Tungsten’s full-width, micro-engraved, metal fascia, which features a diagonally milled surface texture and is complemented by metal-spoked steering wheel inserts. Most delightful of all, however, is the Phantom Tungsten’s dazzling Starlight headliner, which uses up to 800 fibre-optic lights to create the impression of a star-filled night sky. It’s a suitably spectacular highlight for a truly exceptional car. 21 inch, forged, seven-spoke alloy wheels Straight-grained Rosewood veneer and micro-engraved metal combine on the fascia Matt chrome engine cover with gloss black inlet manifolds Starlight Headliner Phantom Tungsten tread plates Conway Stewart fountain pen and solid silver key fobs in Rosewood-veneered presentation box Visible chromed tailpipes
