1953 Facel CometeSource: Motor Car PortfolioCanton, OH, U.S.A. portfolio Posted: 15 Oct 2007 Specs & DetailsExterior Color: greenInterior Color: tan Engine: 8 Transmission: manual Miles Driven: 62125 Beautiful French styling and body work by Facel Metallon, dependable flathead 60 h.p. Ford power, rich European appointments and leather, plus ultra rare in the United States. This was an expensive low production car even in France (we are told approx. 2000 units 1951-1954), and one of the most beautiful designs ever carried out by a Ford European division. Even Henry Ford II owned one of these cars in the Monte Carlo edition. Facel Metallon later went on to produce the famous Facel Vega and other models. We recently exibited this car at the the Glenmoor Concours Grande Salon and it got rave reviews. The car was used in Europe by a previous owner for touring and is well sort out. We drove the car extensively a few weeks and testify it is a wonderful, leisurely driving car. The mileage appears actual and is in kilometers not miles. All guages are in French.

From WikipediaFacel was a French manufacturer of automobiles from 1954 to 1964. The company was named after the original metal stamping company FACEL, and the company's first model, the Vega, named after the star, was introduced at the 1954 Paris Auto Show. The cars were advertised with the slogan For the Few Who Own the Finest. Initially successful, the company failed after the debut of its mechanically troubled Facellia model. |
