About This 1997 BMW M3

Here is your chance to own the ULTIMATE "ultimate driving machine"This is one of only 4 cars (of the 4 door variety) built by BMW"s PTG racing effort. It was originally run in late "97 by Boris Said painted an unusual silver with a German flag stripe down the center. At the 12 hours of Sebring in "98 the car was crashed at the hairpin turn when the ABS failed while John Paul jr was driving. The car was repaired later and used as the First Union show car, then put away as the E 46 cars began to appear (which were initially slower than this car). In 2002 Steve Marcus purchased the car from PTG and extensive modifications and updates were made. Among these were a revamped front and rear suspension geometry along with mods to the wheel wells and a side exit exhaust to allow the car to run much lower ride height. Also the brakes were enlarged front and rear with massive front Brembo calipers fitted to go the entire 24 hours without a pad change. Aero modifications in terms of hood louvers and an improved rear wing were installed. Several other improvements were made to the car and a very high output 3.2 motor was installed.The car was run in Grand Am GT with Hugh Plumb and Brian Cunningham narrowly losing the championship to the much better funded Ferrari of (ironically) Bill Auberlen and Cort Wagner. The car was then retired from professional racing. We bought this car in 2005 and gave it a thorough mechanical rebuild and a cosmetic make over. It was last raced in the paint scheme it has now which was also used by PTG following 9/11/01 at Petit Lemans. This car has been run very successfully in HSR for the last 2 years and has finished on the overall podium on several occasions beating Trans-am cars in the process. It is a very fast car that is amazingly easy to drive due to it's wide power band, 6 speed hewland transmission and massive brakes aided by ABS. This car is also as fast or faster than any comparable Porsche 911 and the maintenance costs are signifigantly lower. Includedd with the car is a large spares package that includes the following:

*Over 3 sets of BBS wheels that are polished with painted centers

*Front and rear fenders, rocker panels and a splitter mold

*2 sets of axles

*Driveshaft

*Hubs and lots of misc suspension parts

* 2 complete differentials (1 was just rebuilt)

*A large selection of hewland gears for the tranny that should accomodate any track.

*Enough brake pads, scrubbed tires, and misc to run the car for a test day or two

*BMW motorsports ABS pump.

*Set up sheets and notes form years of racing these cars

The technical data for this car is as follows. This car is still powered by the highest output 3.2 litre S52 motor that PTG ever put together. It has about 10 hours of running on it so there should be 20 - 25 left. It has a Stack dash with full data capabilities. The engine management is EFI. It has recently rebuilt JRZ shocks, Brembo brakes, Recaro seat for Hans, fresh Schroth belts, and a Hewland gearbox. The car comes race ready and has been professionally maintained by Nick Curto at Predator Performance who spent years working with these cars at Genesis Racing. The car can continue to be serviced by them if you wish and they can provide trackside support at HSR events.
