One of these beauties was purchased by a paraplegic car enthusiast in Johannesburg who had the car converted to his needs and even showcased it on a local television programme. Other owners include ex McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 team driver Kimi Raikönnen and some of the team's management. The CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet was introduced in 2006 at the Frankfurt Auto Show and was first thought to be a design exercise or one of AMG's famous "one-off" designs. When news spread that the same limited number of 100 would be built, the drop-top version was sold out almost as quick as its roof-clad sibling. Famous F1 owners include Juan Pablo Montoya and double world champion Mika Häkkinen, who now races in the DTM. Again only 25 of the cabrio version were made, and it appears that yet again only two have made their way to our shores. Another collector has added this car to his collection which already includes the CLK DTM AMG Coupé, probably due to the fact that the convertible has four seats as opposed to the Coupé's two. Other differences include the speed limiter of the convertible being set to 300km/h, probably due to the limitations arising from the soft top. The Vehicle Vin No.:WDB2094422T071892

From WikipediaThe Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is a mid-size rear-wheel drive coupé/convertible (Coupe Leicht Kurz or Coupe/Light/Short). While it was based on the W202 and W203 platforms of the C-Class, its styling cues, engine, and price range are closer to that of the E-Class, with Mercedes-Benz slotting the CLK as a coupé version of the W210 and W211 E-Class sedan/wagon. The CLK succeeded the W124 E-Class Coupe and it was in turn replaced by the C207 E-class Coupe. |
