2007 Maybach 57 - Tops the Rich List at MPH Annual Motor ShowSource: MaybachSindelfingen, Germany portfolio | web site Posted: 19 Jul 2007 MAYBACH – TOPS THE RICH LIST AT MPH 07 Rolls-Royce rival, Maybach, is aiming for the top of the rich list at this November’s MPH 07, by displaying the most expensive brand new saloon car there – its £265,000 ‘57’ model. Of course the less practical, but infinitely sexy Koenigsegg CCR will top the most expensive new supercar list with a wallet-busting £407,000 price tag at the MPH annual performance and prestige motor show, but then the Maybach can seat four adults in unrivalled comfort. Around the world, the Maybach marque features in the car collections of stars and royalty including Samuel L Jackson, Madonna, Jay-Z and even King Juan Carlos of Spain. Each Maybach is unique to the owner when they specify items from an options list that extends to a diamond-encrusted dashboard. Despite this 5.7 metre long (hence ‘57’) automotive giant weighing in at 2660kg, it is certainly no slouch. Powered by twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V12 engine, it can complete the magic 0-60mph sprint in a staggering 5.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155mph. Dates for the MPH ’07 London shows have been announced as 1-4 November at Earls Court and at then at the NEC in Birmingham from 8-11 November 2007. Five ticket types are available and cost between £23 and £89 and include entry to a 75-minute live action show hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Tickets can be booked by calling the MPH ’07 hotline number on 0871 230 0333.

From WikipediaThe Maybach 57 and 62 (chassis no. V240) were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since the brand's revival by DaimlerChrysler AG. They are derived from the Benz Maybach concept car presented at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show. The concept car was based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, as are the eventual production models. The Luxury Brand Status Index 2008 voted the Maybach 1st place, ahead of Rolls-Royce and Bentley. |
