2007 SSC Ultimate Aero TT - Reaches 241mph in Transmission TestSource: SSC AutosTampa, Florida, U.S.A. portfolio | web site Posted: 31 May 2007 SSC appears determined build the fastest production car in the world. They held a speed trial in March but inclement weather inhibited the test and they failed to break the 242mph record. On May 22 they did another test reaching 241mph, but indicated that this was only to test the temperature of the transmission and not an actual top speed attempt. In fact, they stated that at 241mph they were only at 71% throttle. Currently the Koenigsegg CCR holds the top speed title with its official run at 242 mph (The Bugatti Veyron has an unoffical top speed of 253mph). -BC
