1953 Facel Comete
The Comete was the predecessor to the Facel Vega. It was a Facel bodied French Ford sold through Ford of France but is basically a Facel Vega with Ford Drive train. Very few were built and even fewer survive to this day. The car on offer is a fabulous example of this rare car, and is the recipient of a very detailed restoration performed in Europe a few years back. The car has been part of an important collection of French cars based in Belgium, until imported by us to the United States recently. Beautifully finished in dark green, the car has a well upholstered tan leather interior. The engine is a correct flathead V-8 Ford, and the car has a 3 speed manual transmission. Cosmetically the car is not concours but is very nice. Mechanically it is well sorted and a reliable touring machine. In fact, it was used by its prior owner in Belgium for long distance tours and driving events throughout Europe. The Comete is a rare and desirable coach built French car with an interesting history.

From WikipediaFacel was a French manufacturer of automobiles from 1954 to 1964. The company was named after the original metal stamping company FACEL, and the company's first model, the Vega, named after the star, was introduced at the 1954 Paris Auto Show. The cars were advertised with the slogan For the Few Who Own the Finest. Initially successful, the company failed after the debut of its mechanically troubled Facellia model.
