All of the welding in the vehicle was performed by military/aerospace certified welders. The body panels are molded from a hybrid of e glass and Kevlar cloth with vinyl ester resin. The body panels are bonded to their steel support structures using methacrylate adhesive. The drive train, suspension, steering and brakes are from a 1994 Corvette. The vehicle contains more than 2000 new parts that were custom designed and fabricated. The design and fabrication process took almost six years to complete. The GDT Speedster was completed in November 2005. It has not been shown to the general public. The GDT Speedster is now world famous.
