About This 1970 Ford Mustang MachYou are looking at one of the fastest muscle cars to ever hit the streets. This Mach I 428, "SUPER" COBRA JET, DRAG PACK, 4 speed is at the top of the Muscle Car food chain. This makes it an extremely rare piece to become available to the public in todays market! Just to add a little frosting, it came from the factory in the much sought after "D" code bright yellow. The car is very well optioned, sporting such things as power disc brakes, power steering, spoilers front and rear, factory Ram Air shaker (with correct snorkel, riser and heat shield), in dash tachometer, rear slats, deluxe Mach I black knitted vinyl with the deluxe Rim Blow steering wheel, console, fold down rear seat, dual sport racing mirrors, space saver spare tire and dealer installed 15x7" chrome Magnum 500 wheels with the factory style F60 x 15 Firestone Wide Ovals.
The car has just undergone a major restoration, I am not going to tell you "every" nut and bolt was replaced, however there are many new, NOS and quality used parts that have been refurbished or replaced. I am told by the previous owner the miles are total and original, however I do not have documentation for that. Much of the chrome on the car is new such as bumpers, door handles, letters, mouldings, antenna, gas cap, twist locks and some trim. The paint was completed last fall at a cost of $10,000.00 and has been professionally wet sanded and buffed. The engine had been recently rebuilt, we did a compression test and it averaged about from 170 lbs. per hole. It is the correct era and casting #, date looks like 9-D-7 and sports the external balancer weight (hatchet) unique to the SCJ. The engine is balanced and does have the correct C80E-N heads with original crack free exhaust manifolds. The car has the correct Drag Pack items, (brackets, cooler, lines and adapter). Rev limiter is there and is NOT a reproduction. The correct 3.91 Detroit locker I just spent $950.00 on is completely rebuilt and works great. Tranny works great and is the correct big input and output shaft, RUG AE2 Close Ratio SCJ Tranny. Many new correct show items were installed, such as Autolite hose's, wires, voltage regulator and Autolite battery.
