Although the Austin Healey was the essence of 1950s simplicity, it yielded driving
enjoyment way beyond its basic mechanical credentials.
The Bugeye Sprite was built from May, 1958, to April, 1961. They were an instant success,
both on the road and the track, because of their reasonable initial price (under $2,000),
ease of maintenance, excellent yet forgiving handling, and quick precise steering.
48,987 examples were produced, making it the most numerous, by far, among all cars ever to
bear the name Healey. Power was supplied by the Austin 948 cc A-Series engine producing 43 hp,
and while performance was hardly neck snapping, no one complained because the car was just
so much fun to drive.
This adorable 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite is a rare example of 50's simplicity and driving
enjoyment. Being the result of an older restoration this cute little roadster still shows well
both mechanically & aesthetically. The exterior is finished in Iris Blue with a matching dark
blue interior, black soft top, tonneau cover and new side curtains. This Classic British Roadster
has been beautifully restored. It is as solid as she looks & drives like a classic champ!
