About This 1972 Mercury CometThis 1972 Mercury Comet GT features an all original steel body that is painted PPG Base Coat/Clear Coat with the standard Comet GT Stripe in Black. The paint is 4 years old on the car and in excellent condition. It is not the original color.(Original color was white). The present owner has known the car since it was new and since acquiring it and redoing it he has kept it in a controlled climate garage. The interior is red and black to match the paint and it has been redone with cloth inserts in the seats. The carpet, dash , door panels and headliner are in excellent shape. This car was originally an auto on the column but has been switched to the Hurst Gate Shifter in the floor. Other features include Power Steering,Wood Grain Grant GT Wheel, Factory Air, Jensen AM/FM CD, Autometer Tach, and Auto Meter Oil/Temp & Amp cluster added under the dash. Everything works on the car but the Amp gauge. Under the hood you will find the original factory 302 dressed up with chrome package, an Edlbrock Intake and 600 carb. The engine has new valve seals and some top end work but the bottom end is original. It does not smoke or use oil. The transmission has been rebuilt and has about 5 k miles on it. It rides on 15 inch Cragar S/S Wheels mounted with new BF Goodrich T/A Radials. Braking is manual with drums all around from the factory. Actual original mileage is approximately 129k. Mileage since the above mentioned work was done is about 5k. This is a good solid car, only a couple of light spots of surface rust starting to appear on the lower drivers door and rocker panel, nothing major, about the size of a dime. This car is as slick as the pictures show it. It has been garage kept and well maintained. You will be pleased with the performance of this little giant~!! So if your looking for a good running little piece of Ford *History to crank up and down the strip, car show or even to make some new memories in , she is currently looking for a new home! How about yours? *(1972 Production: Comet 2-dr 53,267, # with Factory V8 Engines: 38.3%).
