This car is the 22nd of approximately 33 Omegas prepared during the late 1960's by the legendary race team Holman Moody of Charlotte, North Carolina. Holman Moody was the premier race shop during that era and Ford Motor Company's official race contractor. They spearheaded Ford's GT40 endurance race program and built a series of winning stock cars for the likes of Bobby Allison and Mario Andretti. The steel bodies of these cars were hand-fabricated in Italy by Intermeccanica, then shipped to Holman Moody's race shop for completion. This particular car received a 302 cubic inch Ford Motor with an automatic transmission. The Holman Moody mechanic who was in charge of this project recently reviewed photos of this car and remembered building this particular Omega. He indicated that it may have been the only car produced with this drivetrain combination. This car has been maintained in dry storage for the past 12 years. I had it detailed and serviced, but have not driven it much since its removal. With a little attention, the car would make an great driver in it's current condition or, in the alternative, it would make an excellent candidate for an easy restoration. The mileage showing on the odometer is 37K, but I cannot determine or represent whether that mileage is original. Please note that these cars were hand-built and no two were exactly alike. Consequently, it is difficult to determine exactly which components are original; however, it appears to be mostly correct based on the research and information I've been able to gather on these cars. Interior: New carpet and a new headliner were installed a few weeks ago. The seats are in good shape, with no rips, tears or other signs of wear. The original Jaeger gauges all appear to work, with the exception of temperature gauge. The dash pad and door panels are also in good condition and the wooden steering wheel is nearly perfect. Drivetrain: The engine was recently tuned and serviced, has good compression and doesn't smoke. I can't speak to any engine modifications, but it pulls strong and seems to be in good shape. The transmission works smoothly, but the shifter could stand to be tightened up a bit. Other Mechanical: The car has 4-wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and independent front suspension. The control arm bushings are worn and need to be replaced. In addition, the lighting and temperature control circuits work intermittently and need some attention. The original air-conditioning components are still on the car, but need to be serviced. Body: The body is straight and solid overall. The paint appears to be an older, single stage paint, which shines up okay, but it is thick and cracked in a few places. A seam line is beginning to show midway up the right front quarter panel, behind the wheel opening. Also, some rust is present in the lower right rear quarter panel and in a support on the left side undercarriage, below the driver's seat. The undercarriage was heavily undercoated some time ago, so it is fairly well preserved. The trunk is in good shape. The front bumper is not on the car, but reproduction bumpers are available. One center cap is also missing.
