About This 1971 Dodge Challenger R/TThis Challenger R/T is in fantastic condition. The restoration on it was completed sometime around 1999 with intentions of making it an exceptionally nice ‘driver'. It was not done to be an OE restored show poodle.
The paint and body, although not perfect , is pretty nice. The paint is, maybe an 8.5 on a 10 scale. It would do a lot for the car to have it polished out a little bit more. This is an original shaker car but the original hood was damaged in a light accident at some point in its past. The hood on it now is an original 71 hood that was purchased NOS. Also, the radiator support was damaged and replaced with an NOS part. There is some filler down low in the rear quarter panels but not much. The vinyl top is thought to be the original and is in great condition. The car was never subjected to bad salt conditions and you can tell when looking underneath that it has never had any sort of structural rust issues. The lower rear quarters are the only part of the car that I believe had any rust problems. All the trim on the car is very nice including the grill bezels, hood, deck lid and quarter extension trim. All the glass is nice with the windshield having been replaced. The interior is, as you can see in the pictures, very nice, having no issues I can think of. The tachometer and clock do not work properly. You might have noticed the tires being E60 - 15's. This size tire was the top option on a 71 6 pack ‘E' body AND they are not being reproduced. These are extremely nice originals.
With regards to the engine and transmission, I just do not know that much about them. I believe the miles on the car to be correct at 56,800. The engine has been gone through but to what extent I do not know. I can say that the car runs very strong and shifts firmly, the way it is supposed to. There are no ‘strange' noises coming from the engine. It has a 4.10 Dana 60 and it will rip up a pair of tires.
