About This 1970 Plymouth AAR
Posted: 16 Oct 2003
UP FOR AUCTION IS A VERY HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER AND SELDOM SEEN 1970 PLYMOUTH 'AAR' ‘CUDA (REAL ONE, NOT A CLONE) WITH 340 6-PAK ENGINE AND PISTOL GRIL 4 SPEED THAT WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY. Car is LEMON TWIST YELLOW (factory color) with STOCK BUCKET SEAT INTERIOR. This great looking AAR ‘Cuda has been recently restored, including paint/bodywork, interior, complete engine rebuild, etc. Odometer shows 84,932 miles. The car seems to be all correct, and I will explain more below. Collector owned and driven with passion. Always garage stored and never abused or raced. Not really something you see everyday. Drivetrain is a year correct 340ci/290hp with triple 2bbl. Carbs (six pack) with matching numbers 4 speed transmission and rear end. There have been thousands upon thousands of dollars invested in this rare vehicle, and it's built to drive, not to sit on a trailer. A STUNNING PIECE OF MOPAR MUSCLE CAR HISTORY, BUILT TO DRIVE OR BE PART OF ANYBODY'S SERIOUS COLLECTION!.
As for overall condition, this car can definitely CRUISE THE BOULEVARD LIKE A MOVIE STAR since it is after all a BEAUTIFUL LEMON TWIST YELLOW AAR ‘CUDA!. Handles VERY WELL with TIGHT STEERING with little body roll for a car this size. Car feels relatively tight down the road and handles turns very well. Front end feels solid and tight. Brakes are SOLID and car STOPS EXCELLENT. Car fires right up and cruises very well. The exhaust system has a nice rumble tone. VERY RELIABLE driver that is meant for you to get in and drive anywhere. I have driven this car both in the city and on the highway and it's extremely reliable and I would not be afraid to drive it everyday! It's a wickedly quick stock Mopar street machine that will rip through the gears and tear up some asphalt quicker than you can think... Basically the car is VERY SOUND and SOLID, but of course it is NOT perfect and will need a little bit of attention here and there as all older cars do. Below are the minor areas of concern:
PAINT is in overall VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT condition throughout (a 7 out of 10 for a driver). Hardly a few chips/scratches/dings, etc. as you would expect for an older job but it was done professionally and done very well. If you look very closely there are a couple of areas with some minor paint runs, but nothing excessive. GOOD SHINE and NICE DEPTH but it's not a $10,000 show car paintjob. Car looks VERY CLEAN as you can see in the pictures and it's more than enough for a very competent driver or local show car.
bumper chrome should be redone but presentable
side mirror paint faded
passenger door has some bubbles under the paint at the very bottom
driver's door needs minor alignment (slight sag)
fender tag was replicated at one time.
