The 220 SE line was introduced in September 1958. Its six cylinder overhead cam engine was essentially the same as the 220 S, however, introduction of the manifold injection system resulted in 18 percent more power, 5 percent more torque and an 8 percent reduction in fuel consumption. There were a total of 1,942 convertibles and coupes made from 1958 to 1960.
This 1960 Mercedes 220SE is truly a rare find and a very special car. It has 45,202 original miles and is a 4 owner meticulously maintained automobile. Has all records since 1966 from when this car shipped to the USA from Germany and invoices from Germany. Restored from the ground up in 1990-1991. Here are some relevant facts about this fine automobile:

Some of the major work done during the restoration included new interior at a cost of about $13,000 and the car was completely repainted at a cost of over $11,000. All chrome ($2,800) replated and wood ($1,200) was completely redone. Over $40,000 and over 200 hours were invested in the restoration of this vehicle. ·
New canvas top, new canvas tonneau cover and new leather boot to match the interior. ·
45,202 original miles documented in the receipts on the car. About 4,000 miles placed on the car since it was finished. ·
Original first aid kit, with everything still in the original wrappers and packaging, scissors with original reorder forms and all original items unused. ·
Original tools. ·
Car runs and drives perfect. Drives like a brand new car! ·
Alpine CD player has been installed and was tastefully done. Has the original Becker radio system also, but listening to CDs driving down the road is ohh so nice! ·
4-speed on the column transmission. ·
This rare two tone car is quite stunning on the car. ·
All service manuals and owners manual available wit the car.
This 1960 Mercedes is a one of kind car that has all its history and records and has been extremely well cared for. A lot of money and time has been invested to make this car as nice as it is. The Mercedes-Benz W128 was a 6-cylinder automobile that was available in sedan, coupé, or cabriolet body styles and produced from October, 1958 to August, 1959 (Cabriolet A/C and Coupé to November, 1960). Its main model, the 220SE, was the last of the "Ponton" series which had design roots and styling cues beginning in 1953 with the Mercedes-Benz 180 sedan. The 220SE featured a unitized body/frame construction and fully independent suspension.
