$42.1k is a lot of money for a Chevelle, but this one actually deserves more. Book on these cars is sky-high, and muscle cars are hot, hot, hot. I think a buyer could be found for between $50-60k. These cars up 18% last year. ~~~ The major problem with this car's valuation is that being a "survivor" is not as important to muscle car guys as being frame-off restored and in factory-fresh condition. I could be wrong, but it's just my gut feel that if this car were newly restored in 2+ or 1- condition, it would achieve dizzy-dollars. ~~~ If you're into muscle cars and originality, then this auction was for you. A real survivor, especially for a brand of car (Chevelle) that didn't often get treated as a garage queen (or perhaps it's more appropriate to call a muscle car a garage KING?). If this car played American football, it would definitely be positioned on the offensive line.
You are looking at a completely original 1970 chevelle SS 454 LS6. The car was purchased brand new in a little town here in Oregon about 20 miles from me. The original guy who bought the car new, still lives there. He sold the car to his buddy when it was one year old. He has had the car ever since then. The car only has 49,000 documented original miles, and has spent all of its life in the garage. This car has all the original drive train, all numbers matching. Original smog equipment is still on the car. Even the tires are 30+ years old. I have not done any detailing on the engine compartment, or replaced the 450 HP stickers. YOU CANT REPLACE ORIGINAL! I have the original purchase order, title, and the window sticker. The car runs and drives absolutely incredable. Its like stepping back in time. The cowl induction works perfect and I love the sound of the solid lifters. The way the car sounds sends chills up your spine. This car is amazingly powerfull, I had no idea these cars were this crazy fast. There is absolutely no rust on this car. Original floor boards, original sheet metal, just a little touch up hear and there over the years. Underside is nice and dry. The gas tank and exhaust have been replaced, otherwise Original. This is a extremely rare find. You will not be dissapointed.
