1959 Mercedes-Benz 220 S light blueSource: OwnerAnytown, U.S.A. portfolio Posted: 23 Apr 2003 Specs & DetailsInterior Color: blueEngine: 6 cyl Transmission: manual Price When New: $4,283 Miles Driven: 103,945 $3.5k a little low for this car, but presentation is to blame. $5.5k is in range. Quaint little Benz in fairly good condition. Presentation too basic, with small photos and some vague wording. No documentation provided. (Chris Lydiksen) OWNER'S COMMENTS Great running 220S that every works except the original radio, even the clock works. There is a cassette/radio in the glove box. The engine runs exceptionally well with no smoke, noise, etc., transmission shifts good, New Clutch, good brakes, all lights work correctly. Chrome is in excellent condition. The exception is the pieces along the bottom of doors and fenders. These were replaced by a previous owner with some type of aftermarket pieces that are starting to flake. I have all the original parts except for one piece that are included with the car. There is some light rust but nothing major. The interior is original and in fair condition. The passenger side door panel is starting to show it's age. Wood is EXCELLENT. Glass is excellent.

From WikipediaThe Mercedes-Benz W128 was a 6-cylinder automobile that was available in sedan, coupé, or cabriolet body styles and produced from October, 1958 to August, 1959 (Cabriolet A/C and Coupé to November, 1960). Its main model, the 220SE, was the last of the "Ponton" series which had design roots and styling cues beginning in 1953 with the Mercedes-Benz 180 sedan. The 220SE featured a unitized body/frame construction and fully independent suspension. |
