BRISTOL FIGHTER 2-SEATER
Bristol's Fighter is a new and inherently better type of high performance vehicle. Designed entirely according to engineering and aerodynamic principles, it is intended to represent the finest way for two people to travel by road.
The Fighter's carefully designed pure gullwing doors ensure unobstructed entry and a gracious exit even in a confined space or next to high kerbs. The interior will accommodate with remarkable comfort individuals ranging from 5' to 6'7" tall. All-round visibility is unrivalled and the car can always be placed with satisfying accuracy on the road. Ample ground clearance eliminates concerns about negotiating speed bumps or unpaved roads while an unexpectedly tight turning circle and compact external dimensions make the fighter entirely suitable for in-town use. A full-sized spare wheel is standard equipment and the luggage compartment provides more room than that of many four seaters.
Bristol does not accept the conventional view that a car this fast need sacrifice anything in the way of cosseting luxury. Indeed, by concentrating on the needs of just two people the Fighter may well be the most comfortable Bristol we have ever built. The hand-beaten aluminium exterior is the work of artists while the interior and its trim is coachbuilt to the highest standards combining the finest Wilton carpet and Connolly leather with extensive soundproof underlays. It is a delightful environment whether you are enjoying the car's astonishing performance potential or merely dealing with everyday traffic.
Driving pleasure is, quite naturally, the Fighter's raison d'être. It is designed to be exceptionally agile and accurate in its responses so as to provide the maximum reward to the enthusiastic driver. Bristol's Aerospace expertise has created a car that is light in weight yet sets new standards for structural stiffness and strength. The lowest attainable centre of gravity is allied to a front mid-engine layout that provides enjoyable and consistent handling balance throughout a vast speed range. Obsessive attention to the perfection of geometry in the independent wishbone suspension system ensures that the Fighter will retain its exceptional good manners even if road and weather conditions turn against you.
Central to the car's character is its uniquely charismatic 8-litre aluminium V-10 engine. Blessed with seemingly limitless torque from idle speed upward it can be silent, smooth and effortless one moment or gloriously powerful the next according to your whim. By specifying a large, normally aspirated engine we achieve trouble free and surprisingly economical operation with minimal service requirement. Whilst a 6-speed close ratio manual gearbox is standard, the optional full automatic transmission occasions no noticeable diminution of performance and full manual control is available when desired.
It is clear that the Fighter's ample power and exceptionally low drag characteristics offer remarkable high-speed capabilities. Since most of our staff originate from Aerospace backgrounds such speeds are something entirely familiar to us. Accordingly, the new car cleaves the air straight and true like an aircraft. Our aerodynamicists have dictated that is be aerodynamically insensitive to ride height, pitch forces and sidewinds in a way that sets entirely new standards for fast road cars.
Bristol' new Fighter is engineered to strict Aerospace standards, designed without the usual cost constraints and coachbuilt by proud and conscientious individuals. For the experienced and highly discerning motorist there is no better way to travel from A to B, however great or small that distance may be.
