CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF GREAT MOTORCYCLES
Harley-Davidson announces 100th anniversary motorcycles
No other model-year in the history of Harley-Davidson has been more anticipated. Harley-Davidson Motor Company is 100 years old next year and for HOG members, enthusiasts, employees and everyone involved with the brand it will be a special year. Every bike produced for the 2003 model year will reflect this as a limited edition work of motorcycle art, featuring unique colours, decals and centenary motifs that immediately make every 2003 Harley-Davidson a collector's item.
While the new models celebrate the past 100 years, it is technology developed for the next 100 years that underpins the new machines. Model year 2003 celebrates a century of classic styling and design and offers a glimpse of what the next 100 years will bring. Each model will feature a 100th anniversary medallion on the engine crankcase, a 100th anniversary model nameplate and the choice of three anniversary colours - Sterling Silver and Vivid Black Two-Tone; Vivid Black; and Gunmetal Pearl. The V-Rod is an exception with a choice of Sterling Silver and Vivid Black Two-Tone, and Anodized Aluminium. Each colour has its own individual set of 100th anniversary decals.
Three colours are carried over from 2002 for some models - Luxury Rich Red Pearl; Luxury Blue Pearl; and White Pearl. All carry 100th anniversary identification for 2003.
'We wanted to deliver something really special to our customers in 2003,' said Willie G. Davidson, vice president, styling. 'To achieve this, Harley-Davidson is offering customers 100th anniversary identification on all 2003 models. With their stunning colours and unique styling elements, the 100th anniversary models illustrate why Harley-Davidson motorcycles are permanent fixtures on highways everywhere.'
Sterling Silver and Vivid Black Two-Tone
The most notable 100th anniversary identification is included on models with the Two-Tone Sterling Silver and Vivid Black paint combination. All models in this livery feature: a 100th anniversary tank emblem with a gold Bar & Shield cloisonné* insert; an anniversary logo embossed seat; and 100th detailing on the derby, air cleaner and timing covers. Anniversary gold cast wheels are also available on some two-tone models.
Vivid Black and Gunmetal Pearl
A second variation of 100th anniversary identification is available on models sporting Vivid Black or new Gunmetal Pearl paint. All anniversary models in these colours will feature a 100th anniversary tank emblem with a chrome Bar & Shield cloisonné insert and 100th anniversary striping.
Last year's multiple award-winning V-Rod returns in its original Anodized Aluminium or, factory-painted for the first time, a new Two-Tone Sterling Silver and Vivid Black paint combination. Both have 100th anniversary identification including a tank cloisonné in either chrome (Anodized Aluminium) or gold (two-tone), and an engine case medallion.
Demand is expected to be extremely strong for all models. As a result Harley-Davidson will extend production of 2003 motorcycles by two months, resulting in a 14-month production schedule that will end in September 2003.
Prices are expected to be announced next month. For more information and to locate your nearest dealer, call Harley-Davidson UK on 0870 842 8355.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON 2003 ANNIVERSARY MODELS
883, 883 Hugger, Custom 53, 883R, 1200 Sport, 1200 Custom
There are six models in the Sportster range for 2003, including the return of the 883R. The 883R retains its race inspired heritage with its Harley-Davidson racing orange paint scheme (the only 2003 model not available in an anniversary colour) and upswept chrome exhaust. But it doesn't miss out on the party and features 100th anniversary markings. All 2003 Sportsters have new mirrors with enhanced functionality and style and the XL 1200S has a new chrome exhaust.
Super Glide, Super Glide Sport, Super Glide T-Sport, Low Rider, Wide Glide
The biggest change to the Dyna Glide family in 2003 comes on the Wide Glide. The 2003 bike has repositioned rider foot pegs that add comfort for taller riders, and a repositioned brake pedal for enhanced ergonomics. Other notable changes include a new chrome exhaust package for the Super Glide Sport and a black-and-chrome engine and additional chrome components (including primary covers, batters covers and belt guard) for the Super Glide T-Sport. All 2003 Dynas have new mirrors with enhanced functionality and style.
Softail Standard, Night Train, Fat Boy, Springer, Deuce, Heritage Springer, Heritage Classic
The long, low lines of the Softail family are further enhanced by the 100th anniversary styling and the introduction, for 2003, of 150 mm rear tyres on all models (except Deuce which has a 160 mm rear tyre and the Heritage Springer). And returning for 2003 is the availability of Harley-Davidson's Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) which delivers reliable, predictable performance no matter what the temperature, altitude or riding conditions.
Electra Glide Standard, Road King, Electra Glide Classic, Road King Classic, Ultra Classic Electra Glide
100th anniversary styling is joined in 2003 by a new in-dash CD player (replacing 2002's cassette player) as standard on all stereo equipped models. Other new features for 2003 include: integrated CB and intercom controls, which have been moved from the tank console to the stereo; CD storage capabilities on the Ultra Classic Electra Glide; and anniversary gold cast wheels on the Electra Glide Classic and the Ultra Classic Electra Glide (when Two-Tone Sterling Silver and Vivid Black is specified).
Last year was the year of the V-Rod. The striking Anodized Aluminium performance custom cruiser took the motorcycle world by storm, winning awards and praise wherever it went. For 2003, the V-Rod will be available in two 100th anniversary looks, one continuing the raw visual impact of Anodized Aluminium and a second featuring the Two-Tone Sterling Silver and Vivid Black paint combination. Also new, a security system is now standard on every V-Rod.
