' Story and Photography by Matt Emery. Let's face it, strict attention to detail is nothing new to builders of outrageously expensive street rods. However, it is only recently that the same strict attention to detail has been evident in those who are into building muscle cars. There are those enthusiasts who may think they take it to the extreme-but then there is LM Dove of Fallbrook, California. Dove is in the business of manufacturing surgical equipment. When it comes to precision, there are few instances where exactness is more important than the surgical theater. After all, if a surgeon has to clamp off a vital piece of you, you want him or her to do it with something a lot more precise than a set of needle-nose pliers wrapped with rubber bands. When it comes to taking care of the body of a car that had been on the road since '65, Dove felt that Henry's Hot Rod Shop was the place to go. The crew at Henry's began by taking the body down to bare metal when they removed most of the stainless and chrome and smoothed out the body. They re-configured the rear wheel wells, boxed and strengthened the rear quarter panels and custom-fabricated the inner fender panels. With the addition of the Harwood cowl induction hood, the stage was set for the application of the DuPont clearcoat and Performance Red paint, which was also used in the interior. Serious horsepower is not just a theory with Dove. He equipped his Nova with a GM Performance Parts ZZ430 crate engine. The ZZ430 is based on an iron block with four-bolt mains holding the forged steel crank in place. The engine is topped off with aluminum D-port Fast Burn cylinder heads that feature 210cc intake ports. Providing the fuel for the 4-inch bore is the work of a Holley 770-cfm dual feed carburetor that sits astride the polished aluminum, dual plane intake manifold. Bumping the roller rockers is a hydraulic roller camshaft that has 0.539/0.558-inches of lift with 234/242 degrees of duration. Ron Mangus has built some of the finest interiors ever and this one is no exception. Using yards of tweed and leather, the interior also features such high-profile names as LeCarra, Vintage Air, Kenwood and Dakota Digital. A healthy ignition system is mandatory if any thought of track running is in the future. To that end, Dove chose an MSD ignition system to power his red flier. An MSD billet distributor with the 6AL controller is a great way to say, I beat you. JLM Race Cars provided a quick exit for spent gasses with custom-built headers, which were treated to a Jet-Hot coating before connecting with the 40-series Flowmaster mufflers. Heat has been the killer of many high-performance engines, so Dove tackled the problem with a two-pronged assault. First, a 7-quart Milodon triangulated sump combines with a GM high-flow oil pump to provide plenty of lubrication. Second, a Griffin radiator, with custom-built fan shroud and auxiliary fan, works in conjuction with the polished aluminum, High-flow water pump. Getting the power from the engine to the back half of the Nova is ably handled by a Rick Roach-built Turbo 400 that has been equipped with a Hughs 2,800-rpm stall converter. The tranny is protected from the heat with a Flex-a-lite fluid cooler complete with its own fan. Putting the muscle in this muscle car is the GM ZZ430 crate motor. Equipped with Fast Burn aluminum heads, a roller valvetrain, 770-cfm Holley carb and MSD ignition, this shoebox has all the power that it can use. The thirdmember that finally made it into this Chevy actually comes from Ford. It's a custom-fabricated 9-inch housing fitted with Moser axles, a Trac-Lok and 4.11 gearing. This trick thirdmember sits within an equally trick frame that was custom-built by JLM Race Cars. Built with mild steel, the boxed chassis uses a body-channeled-over-frame design. It's equipped with a Mustang II-type suspension design that features polished stainless-steel tubular upper A-Arms, which connect to Fomoso drop spindles. A rack-and-pinion steering system connects Dove to his car while 11-inch vented and polished Wilwood disc brakes allow him complete control. Out back, a four-link suspension design uses a track locator and Carrera coilover shocks, while drum brakes do their part to bring the car to a halt. As suspected, Dove had all the suspension components polished, chromed or powder-coated and all fuel, brake and cooling lines are stainless steel with aircraft-type fasteners. Lastly, a custom-made and highly-polished aluminum fuel tank (with Mallory electric fuel pump) provides plenty of space for fuel. Even the trunk did not escape the handiwork of Mangus. The sculpted tweed complements the storage unit that is between the wheels tubs. Another special storage compartment hides the battery. Giving the Chevy the strip look, as well as the ability, are the combination of huge 29x18.5x15-inch Micky Thompson tires mounted on 15x14-inch Cragar Street Star wheels with 24x6-inch rubber. If the engine and frame are what would be found in strip competition, then the interior is straight out of show and shine competition. Interior impresario Ron Mangus was the man who designed and stitched the tweed and taupe, red and tan leather that can be found throughout. Custom touches abound: the door panels and headliner have been sculptured and the dashboard is covered in leather. Of course leather is nice, but a dash is supposed to be informative. Thus, a full complement of Dakota Digital gauges was installed to update Dove with all essential details. A Kenwood AM/FM compact-disc player provides the tunes, while a Vntage Air unit provides cooler temps when needed. All these electrical systems are tied together with a painless wiring kit. Sporting plenty of Performance Red paint as well as a host of shiny parts, this Nova is as nice beneath the body as it is on top. The attention to detail is awesome! A narrowed 9-inch housing has been modified using a 4.11-equipped Trac-Loc and a set of Moser axles. It is hung within the JLM Race Cars frame with a four-link that features Carrera coilover shocks. Not wanting so much as an errant bend to disrupt the flow, Dove felt that the coated exhaust pipes should travel through the crossrails. To keep Dove completely in charge of the high-performance Chevy, he installed a LeCarra steering wheel (on a tilt column), along with a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter with line-lock capabilities. Like most vehicles today, the trunk is adorned with the sculptured tweed design that continues throughout the shoebox interior. Separate compartments for items such as the battery and storage between tubs were also integrated. Even for someone with Dove's exacting standards, this Nova has exceeded his wildest dreams. And this is a car that is driven hard-so much so that even though it was not thrashed in any way, it was recently refurbished and freshened by the crew at Hot Rods and Custom Stuff of Escondido, California. It's just like Dove to know when elective surgery is needed. CR. We did not build this vehicle, but we recently refurbished it and made some upgrades that Mr. dove felt were needed to perfect it. We over-hauled the brake system, replaced fuel lines, and installed a trans-cooler and roll-control, and added tubular from A-arms. We also performed regular maintenance like a tune-up and header gasket replacement. More Info? Oh my! A non #s matching no sale at $90.3k. Mopars are hot. I would have thought $65k is fair. No change in value for these cars last year, but I think we can say we're seeing a move here. ~~~ This car has changed hands many times, but looks no worse for wear. Restored in 1989. All of us Mopar fans have known for a long time now that 1970 was the start of something great; the introduction of the Dodge Challenger. This would be Dodge's first entry into the pony car market.
Dodge production in 1970 was almost 500,000 total units of which the Challenger by itself accounts for nearly 77,000 units in all its body styles.
Of the 77,000 Challengers that Dodge put together in 1970 there were 13,668 of them shipped out with the R/T package and only 3,741 more were shipped out with the R/T Special Edition package with its own VIN number of JS29 due to its now having what Dodge called a Sports hardtop or fast top roof. The base price of a V-8 2dr hdtp Challenger was $2,953, the base price of a 2dr hdtp R/T was $3,266 and the base price of a Challenger RT/SE was $3,498; up $545 from a base V-8 Challenger. The 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE was a Special Edition of 3,979 built.
The 1970 426 Hemi Challenger RT/Special Edition you see here was built on Tuesday, March 17, 1970 at the Hamtramck assembly plant in Detroit, Michigan and then shipped to its new owner in San Diego, California where he happily paid almost $5,000 for his new Hemi-powered Dodge. It continued to live in this dry southern California area until the summer of 1983 when it was sold to a gentleman in Louisiana who had it for approximately one year before selling it to a pal nearby who went bracket racing with it and consequently â€˜broke' the original engine. Over the course of the next five years the car went through a long drawn out restoration process which, by the owners own admission looking back, it definitely did not need due to its being in such great condition.
Once he got the Hemi out of the car he sold it and rebuilt the Hemi from his 69 Charger to go back into the Challenger. He just couldn't find a quitting point before deciding to go ahead and go through the car and make it new once again. Once finished in early 1989 he sold it to a collector in Oklahoma who in turn sold it a couple of years later and after changing hands a few more times it came into my possession.
I talked to the man who restored it in â€˜89 and he assured me (of which I have no doubt) that this car has never had any rust anywhere whatsoever on the body nor had it ever had any body damage on it of any kind.
According to Chrysler Options & Accessories reports for the 1970 Challenger RT/SE there were 19 Hemi RT/SE's shipped with an automatic transmission and 4.10 Dana. Also, with the exception of Panther Pink, it's the rarest Hi-impact color to be on an RT/SE with 195 of them shipped in the Hemi-orange color.
There were only 63 of these incredibly rare Dodge's built with 4 of these getting exported to Canada. Of the remaining 59 Hemi RT/SE's, 37 were shipped with an automatic transmission.
With regards to my sub-title above, and there being only 63 of these cars built, it is 11 times rarer than a â€˜70 Hemi â€˜Cuda, 5 times rarer than a â€˜70 Hemi Challenger R/T, twice as rare as a â€˜71 Hemi Â¢Cuda or a Hemi Superbird and also rarer than a â€˜71 Hemi Challenger, â€˜69 Hemi Daytona or any 6-pack equipped E-body hdtps. NOW THAT'S RARE!
This car is absolutely beautiful and although it's not an O.E. certified show car I feel that without much trouble it could be taken from where it's at now to that level. Although it was painted many years ago it is still in phenomenally great condition and it's safe to say it looks as great as a lot of the more recently restored show cars I've seen lately with the exception being the underside. It's showing wear underneath although in my opinion it does still look good, especially for a car that is going to be driven. As mentioned above, this car has never had any rust repair work needed or done. Also - there has never been any collision damage to the car. All the glass in the car is very nice with no chips or scratches.
The radial TA tires are brand new 245/60-15's on original 15x7 Rallye wheels.
The car does not have the original style exhaust system due to a previous owner opting for a Flowmaster exhaust system that sounds absolutely great. It does have the original Hemi cast iron exhaust manifolds.
I know that I could get into a lot more detail here as to the condition of this RT/SE and it's components but hopefully the pictures will answer a lot of your questions. If you do in fact have any questions regarding other details please feel free to call me.

Before I describe the car lets talk about paperwork because that's what separates the men from the boys and cars that might be from cars that ARE GENUINE, REAL STAGE 1s WITH PROVENANCE are extremely hard to come by, so paperwork is crucial in determining a real car from others, and I'm not talking about BHS paperwork I'm talking about genuine, real paperwork over 32 pieces ! plus HAND WRITTEN stories from the 2nd owner with pictures from back in the day ! also talking about meeting and hanging out with the original owner 40 years later !! it doesn't get any better or more real than this car, I have been around Buicks since 1979 me and my brother have owned some of the rarest, this car has ALL matching # motor, trans, rear, but first the paper work, I have the original protecto plate with the original owners name on it that's how I found him threw a lot of digging and phone calls, have the build sheet that I personally removed from the tank, have both interior build sheets from the front and back seats, the car came vey Buick Cadillac company in Rockaway, NJ this is on the car invoice along with all the options for the car,have the ORIG owners manual, have the retail installment contract, have closed loan letter and envelope dated dec 1971, have the retail order for a motor vehicle contract from vey Buick Cadillac the hand written one with again ALL the options list, A1 stage 1 is on the first line, have the 1970 Buick new vehicle pre delivery service and adjustment check sheet, have a second retail installment contract, have the ORIG owners manual pouch with vey Buick Cadillac on the front with salesman name and matt pericolas name on it, have 1970 Buicks brochure ORIG one, and accessories brochure, have 2 protecto plate card sleeves WHY? because this was an early build car 12/69 they used a 1969 sleeve crossed out the 69 and WROTE in 1970, really cool, plus a 1970 sleeve they gave him after he picked it up,I have a really hard to find option check off sheet that you go over with the salesman to order the car the way you want, with the prices for each option on it ! also on this sheet you can see where they were mixing diff option pkgs together,have copy of the second owners title, james ruddy who bought the car in 1985 off of matt, have the original blue GM door sticker I saved,,have hand written story about the car from the second owner really cool stuff and pictures he sent me, have pics with the original owner when I brought him his car back 40 years later it was incredible that day !! he calls all the time to check in with me, have the original vey Buick Cadillac key chain plastic, with 2 original keys very worn but orig ! You will be pressing your luck to find another nice '68 Coronet R/T in this condition. Mopars are just getting rarer by the day. This Dodge Coronet R/T features a beautiful finish in Blue Metallic with Black interior. A very eye catching combination. This Coronet R/T comes with its original numbers matching engine! Correct TorqueFlite transmission puts all the power down to the ground strongly. This is a real R/T car and has been decoded using Galien Govier's code options.

$100.1k is in range for this Cobra. $106k is fair. No change in value for Cobras last year. A beautiful car and great conversation piece, but not a 'REAL-real' Cobra (see owner's comments). ~~~ Well, I would have expected more, but gee whiz, there are a lot of Cobras out there, I mean, excellent high-dollar replicas that are, in reality, nicer than this car. Carrol Shelby is justified in trying to limit the production of such replicas, but the Shelby Cobra is truly a victim of its own popularity. I don't know what the numbers are, but I bet there are at least 10,000 replicas roaming the streets in the USA alone.

Shelby Registry History :
1968 Coil Spring Cobra COB6132 is th elast of the 300 some odd Shelby Cobras built and is docemented in the Shelby Registry. Car was built as a series of 5 cars (COB Vin) for Paramount Pictures in a long chassis form for the filming of a movie - This car was never used and was repurchased by AC Car Ltd in the late 70s after storage by Paramount and subsequently shortened to the standard Cobra Chassis Length and Bodied with a correct aluminum Cobra Body. The car was subsequently sold to Armi Eigelveiter in LA who owned the car for the next 20+ years as part off a large collection. This car has 2800 Original miles and has a high compression 12.5-1 Motor with Ingelesse Induction (4 Webers) . Car has never been restored nor does it require any restoration given its original condition. Car is Red with White Stripes painted in Laquer.
This car has unique history and is considered an Odd Ball within the Shelby registry but this status makes it the most affordable Cobra in the market in the finiest unrestored condition with 2800 original miles. The car is a beast with a strong high performance motor. Requires 100 Octane or boosted fuel.

Whew! $27,850 is a lot of money for a '67 GTO. This tiger definitely deserves respect, but maybe not this much! I'd give $25k as the roof for this one. Goes to show what full documentation, arrow-straight panels, rare option packages, and a just the right amount of irrationality can do. ~~~ Muscle cars are hot, and if there's one thing this car obviously is, it's a muscle car. Even Grandma would agree. It's interesting that the winning bidder's handle was 'superbird700.'

First let me say that I have been buying and selling classic automobiles for 30 years and when I saw this car it took me maybe 3 minutes to tell the owner its mine and write the check!! I have seen very few Genuine Investment Quality GTO'S with this color combo and option list that is Documented by the Pontiac Historical Society for sale at my reserve.This original southern car was taken apart to be restored,rebuilt, and painted and was certainly restored to a VERY HIGH STANDARD !! I cannot find any panel replacement and the body is ARROW STRAIGHT. It is PHS documented , numbers matching and correct even down to the color codes and options. The paint,door jams,interior,vinyl top,engine detail,underside,trunk,and chrome are a 9 and a half on a 10 scale.If you are serious about buying a GTO to these standards that you can show,drive and enjoy instead of work on this is the GTO for you!!Dont get me wrong guys it's got the Powerful 400 4 bbl engine and the Hurst Dual Gate shifter mounted to the bullit proof Turbo 400 Transmission we love but it would also be the perfect car for the lady in the family because it's so easy to drive. This car runs and drives just flawless (one finger at 70 mph).The A/C will just freeze ya!! This car was born Regimental Red exterior color,Regimental Red Bucket seat interior, and a Black vinyl top.It is HIGHLY OPTIONED with Working Factory Airconditioning that is original R12 and pulls down to 38 . The transmission has a tab on the right side PS-67-15393 and has the correct early pan.The rear end is 9783393 cast dated L176 with WD. The left rear frame rail has stamped 11-25-66 1 ( the 5 is upside down,I had to look at it twice). I JUST WISH MY PHOTOS WERE AS GOOD AS THIS CAR IS !! The underside is near spotless (NO DIRT,NO EXTRA UNDERCOATING) and totally blacked out for driving but only on nice days please.The floor pans,body,and frame have No Rust or Bondo I can find anywhere. A fun old cruiser from the glory days of Pontiac. Fantastic story and great presentation, but still could have used more photos of the documentation. This is one of the finest, most original documented Pontiac's I have ever seen...and I have been collecting vintage cars for most of my life.
To substantiate the originality of this incredible car, I have posted a picture of the ORIGINAL factory MSRP window sticker...let me emphasize that this is NOT a reproduction....but the perfect original that came on the car.
Additionally, I have the ORIGINAL Pontiac owner's guide and the ORIGINAL 1961 Pontiac Owner's protection plan book. (not reproductions)
All of the maintenance certificates are still in the book...with the exception of the 2000 mile inspection certificate..which was done at 2307 miles on 8/5/1961
This car was sold brand new by Heniz Pontiac/Cadillac in Mankato, Minnesota to it's original owner, Mr. A.J. Amble.
Mr. Amble loved his new Bonneville...and as a result of his great affection for this car, he saved every receipt for any work done of his car....the folder is a few inches thick and even includes a small log book that was hand-written by Mr. Amble.
In 1965 he had an under the dash Eaton Air-conditioning system installed...and of course he saved the invoice...The AC is so cold in this car...it is necessary to run it on the lowest fan speed just after a few minutes. It will freeze the 'Toes'...LOL...off a brass Monkey...and that is mighty COLD!!!!!
Most of the paint is original on this car...and is in incredible condition...this is a true survivor in every sense. No Bondo...no body work!!!!!
Also, He had plastic clear seat covers installed when he purchased the car...as a result...the interior is perfect. I removed the front clear covers as it gets rather warm here in South Florida...and when I removed them.....the car suddenly again had that 'New Car' aroma. I have left the back ones on...and the new owner can remove them if he or she so chooses to do so. When you sit inside this car...it feels like your back in time in `1961 and sitting in a new car on the showroom of a Pontiac 'Wide Track' dealership.....
I had the tri-power completely rebuilt...I doubt very much if Mr. Amble ever availed himself of the power this car has when the pedal is pushed to the floor. No...I will not sell the tri-power to anyone...it goes with the car!!!!
Everything works as it should in this car...with the exception of the clock.
The chrome is in amazing condition...and does not need to be redone.....
The 8 lug wheels still look brand new...and I have recently installd a brand new set of SBR tires....they have less than 100 miles on them!!!!
This car has every possible aux. lighting group...and they all work correctly
The mileage is absolutely correct...just over 58,000 miles.
The engine runs strong...the transmission shifts perfect!
This car had the complete rust-protection treatment by Tuffkote Dinol...which might be one of the reasons this car has remained rust free...additionally I was told that Mr. Amble only drove his Bonneville during the Summer...and never in inclement weather.
In December of 2001 this car was purchased by a Mr. Scott Hanson of Litchfield, MN. I acquired the car from Scott about a year ago.
I have just acquired a 61 Bonneville tri-power 4/speed Convertible with AC...and have decided to sell this phenominal Pontiac.
I guarantee this is a NO disappointment classic car...and at the buy it now price I have posted...is a wonderful buy with great investment potential....

Exceptionally clean '72 Cuda powered by a 340 ci V8 with Edelbrock cams and lifters, a six pack Holley setup and a 4-speed manual. 3.55 posi-trac rear end. This raw American grunt is commanded through a pistol grip shifter. Loud black decals over yellow paint, massive hood nostrils, rear spoiler and quick release hood pins make this car the opposite of a sleeper.For sale. 1972 Plymouth Cuda (BS23 Vin code). (Date Code Correct, Casting # 2780930-340) 340 cid w/ six pack / 4 speed. Very clean restoration. This Cuda runs handles and drive great with that classic Mopar sound. Six Pack Holley setup with a aggressive Edlebrock cam, lifters and aluminum heads and a 3.55 posi-trac rear end. The car has black interior with bucket seats and a pistol grip shifter. Rallye Gauges w/ 7K Tachometer. Center Console w/ Wood Grain Trim. Power disc brakes, air shocks, ceramic coated headers. 3' exhaust and flowmaster mufflers. BF Goodrich tires with 95% tread left.
1963 Chevrolet Nova Convertible SS Clone (archived: 14 Jul 2015)

Very nice Nova Convertible SS clone powered by a 327 ci V8. Extra care was taken when replacing floorpans and taking the rest of the metal down to bare metal. To protect from rust, Por 15 was generously applied.1963 was the only year the Nova super sport convertible was made which makes it a very rare car. I have had the car since November of 2007 and have done a lot of restoration work on it. My goal was to build a replica of a 1963 Nova SS convertible with a dealer optioned V8 engine. I installed a period correct 327cu inch 300hp engine that was professionally rebuilt and has a build date the same week as the car. The engine has less than 5,000 miles on it since it was rebuilt. The front floor pans have been replaced and the rest of the under carriage was taken down to bare metal and coated with POR 15. The front end was completely rebuilt with new bushings, bearings, seals, ect. All leaf springs, coil springs, and shocks have been replaced. The rear end was pulled, taken down to bare metal and painted with POR 15. A new gas tank was installed after it was coated with POR 15 clear coat. The radiator was replaced and the steering box was rebuilt. It has Magnaflow mufflers with 2 1/2'stainless steel duel exhaust. When I took the car to the Nova Nationals in 2010 it received 798 points out of 1000. A lot of the work on the car has been completed since. I have pictures of some of the restoration work, receipts for a lot of the parts, and documentation of most of what was done to the car.

Driver quality Coronet Superbee tribute build. It's powered by a 383 horsepower big block, overbored with long tubular headers. MSD ignition. 6A box. Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor. Holley electric fuel pump and regulator. 727 automatic transmission with cooler.Engine: 69 383 hp big block with the following work. Bored. 030 over, long tube headers full msd ignition from the distributor to the coil, wires and even has a 6A box. Has a Holley carb and edelbrock intake. Has lokar cable system for throttle and kick down. Has a Holley electric fuel pump with regulator as well. Has the mopar purple cam in it too. All work done to the motor was done 4.5 years ago and around 6,000 miles ago. Transmission: freshly rebuilt 727 automatic transmission. Has a mild shift kit, I'm not a big fan of them but was advised to have it done. Even the torque convertor is new. I have the receipts for the transmission work. It was recommended that a trans cooler to be installed as well, but they didn't instal one even though I authorized the work to be done. It also has a bandm racheting shifter which I'm not a fan of either. Interior: this car came from Arizona so as you can imagine the dash pad is cracked, the vinyl on the back seat is dry and torn. The front buckets are not original to the car. The steering column was replaced with a column shift column as the original one was removed and sold before I got the car. The indicator was removed as well as the shift arm so you cannot see unless you looking for it that is the wrong column. The steering wheel is an aftermarket one as well. Brakes: all brake lines and equipment were replaced last year and upgraded to power disc. Body: this an extremely solid car. Rails, main floor all good. The only rust on the car is the trunk floor! Should it be repaired? Sure! Can you leave it alone and put things in the trunk and just drive it as is? Absolutely! The car was repainted in f8 green DuPont chroma base/ clear system. The stripe is from Phoenix graphics. The bumpers and door handles are original and could use a rechrome or replace. The side reflectors need to be replaced as I don't have any. The bee emblem that was on the trunk was garbage so a new one should be used in its place. The outer tail light sockets need to be replaced but everything else works as it should. Suspension: The shocks are all new. Has heavy duty leaf springs. Has 8-3/4 rear end as well guessing 3:23 gearing. What the car is missing or needs: missing center caps to the magnum rims. Door and trunk weather stripping should be replaced. The drivers side door jamb should be repainted as it had a reaction when it was painted. The interior needs restored as stated above. The front tires could use a replacement sometime sooner than later. The engine bay could use a nice detailing. The trunk floor could be repaired. Could use a ramcharger set up under the hood to look correct. I'm more than happy to assist with shipping, buyer is to arrange and pay for shipping on their own side. This car is a turn key driver quality local car show kind of car. All in all not bad for a tribute car as you hardly ever see any superbee's at car shows let alone a coronet. And if you do, there commonly sublime green. Not f8 green.

One of the lesser-known muscle cars, this Javelin has presence. This is a 4-speeed, 401ci V8 car with 430 lb-ft of torque.Extremely Rare 1972 Javelin AMX 4 speed with A/C. All original. This is a 'top tier' Muscle car and one of the rarest muscle cars ever made. Only 825 Javelin AMXs were made in 1972 with the largest AMC engine, the 401c. i. with 430ft lbs of torque, and only a handful had 4 speeds. Estimates are 20-25 4 speeds built in 1972. Rear 3.15 gear the perfect gear with the close ratio 4 speed. Suspension: Rebuilt front suspension, all new brakes, rotors, drums, master cylinder, all brake tubing. You never see these cars in this condition. It looks fantastic. Very clean. This AMX is ready to show, cruise, drive, and enjoy as is. Be ready for lots of attention. June 26, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Remaining true to its performance roots, the Mopar brand unveiled the next-generation Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, a factory-prepped package car specifically geared for drag racing. The vehicle, revealed today at the FCA US LLC Chelsea Proving Grounds, is built on the Dodge Challenger platform and will come with the option of either the brand's first-ever offering of a supercharged 354-cubic-inch Gen III HEMI® engine or a naturally aspirated 426-cubic-inch Gen III HEMI engine. The new Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak is designed for passionate Sportsman racers who compete in nationally sanctioned drag racing series, such as the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). The new generation Drag Pak combines the latest in Sportsman racing technology, a host of upgrades and improvements from the previous generation Drag Pak and unique heritage design cues. “Today, we write the next page in our performance playbook with the reveal of the production Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, a vehicle that offers, for the first time, a supercharged engine that provides our racers more options,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO - Mopar Brand Service, Parts and Customer Care, FCA. “Our brand is committed to supporting Mopar drivers who compete at all levels. In 2014, we debuted a new Dodge Dart NHRA Pro Stock car that won right out of the gate. In 2015, our new Dodge Charger R/T NHRA Funny Car did the same. Now, Mopar is supercharging our Sportsman racers.” Under a factory hood is the supercharged 354 HEMI engine, with a cast-iron block, forged steel crankshaft, Mopar spec camshaft and a custom performance engine calibration. The 354 nomenclature pays homage to the heritage of the early Gen 1 HEMI engines, which originally displaced 354 cubic inches. The naturally aspirated 426 Race HEMI engine is built off of a Mopar aluminum block with pressed-in steel liners and aluminum cylinder heads. Like the supercharged engine, the 426 HEMI also includes a custom engine calibration. The new Drag Pak features a race-prepped automatic transmission, upgraded from the previous generation vehicle, for both the 354 and 426 engine options. The vehicle's front suspension sports a unique Mopar K-Member and suspension geometry, with double adjustable compression and rebound struts. At the back of the car is a four-link suspension with Panhard bar, Strange Engineering 4-inch solid axle with 9-inch aluminum third member, 40-spline gun drilled axles, shocks with adjustable compression and rebound and an anti-roll bar. The rear axle mounting has been strengthened from the previous generation Drag Pak to help the car launch faster and harder. Each engine version carries a unique graphic identification package. The supercharged hot rod displays a Mopar Blue stripe and a “354 Supercharged” graphic insignia, while the naturally aspirated (N/A) Drag Pak sports a horizontal black stripe along its side with a 426 HEMI engine graphic identification. The new Drag Pak includes the Dodge Challenger front and rear fascia trim and a redesigned full roll cage fabricated to NHRA specifications. The cockpit reflects the Dodge Challenger interior, but with the addition of a Mopar gauge pack, driver and passenger lightweight racing seats, along with a safety net and a five-point harness. The Mopar Drag Pak is equipped with 15-inch front and rear lightweight wheels displaying the unique Mopar logo. Mounted on those wheels will be Hoosier drag radials with front tires that measure 28 inches in diameter by 4.5 inches wide, and rear tires that are 30 inches in diameter by 9 inches wide. The car will also feature slotted front and rear brake rotors, with race-specific calipers and master cylinder. The vehicle also includes a more user-friendly hood, hinged at the rear to make between rounds under hood maintenance an easier task. Another small but essential detail that racers will appreciate is the addition of integrated trailer tie-down loops on the front and rear of the new Drag Pak. Development of the new Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak has spanned nearly a year. A prototype was first revealed in 2014 at the 60th NHRA U.S. Nationals to elicit feedback from NHRA Sportsman racers on potential upgrades to make the Drag Pak even more competitive at the drag strip. The resulting new vehicle is the next step in the evolution of Mopar's modern-day package car, whose earlier incarnations include more than 150 V-8 Challenger Drag Paks, an additional 50 V-10 versions and plenty of 426 Race HEMI upgrade kits. “We are extremely pleased with the results obtained during our testing,” said Dale Aldo, Mopar Motorsports Marketing Manager. “In the first runs the new Drag Pak ran consistently in the eights (eight-second range) while improving times at the 60-ft. mark and also performing very well in the quarter mile. GOODWOOD, UK - To celebrate its return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Chevrolet has shipped a surprise across the Atlantic for its European debut - the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro. The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro revealed today was tested and tuned on more than eight tracks around the world as well as on the Autobahn, and offers higher levels of performance, technology and refinement. Camaro, which goes on sale in the U.S. this year, has held a leadership position in the sporty car segment for the past five years. In Europe, Camaro will become available in spring/summer of 2016 as LT and V-8 models. Prices and final technical specifications will be announced closer to launch. The Gen Six Camaro provides a faster, more nimble driving experience, enabled by an all-new, lighter architecture and a broader powertrain range. In Europe, three all-new powertrain combinations are offered, including a 2.0L Turbo and the LT1 6.2L V-8, which is SAE-certified at 455 horsepower (339 kW) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque - for the most powerful Camaro V-8 ever distributed in Europe. The 2.0L Turbo and the V-8 both feature an eight-speed automatic transmission; the V-8 is also available with a six-speed manual. Through extensive computer-aided engineering, structural rigidity was increased by 28 percent, while the body-in-white mass was reduced by 60.5 kg (133 pounds). In their quest to make the 2016 Camaro as lean as possible, engineers and designers evaluated every aspect of its architecture - already the most mass-efficient ever created by GM - and supporting elements, saving grams here and pounds there that contributes to the car's lower curb weight. As a result, the total curb weight for Camaro has been reduced by more than (90 kg) 200 pounds. Significant weight savings came from using an aluminum instrument panel frame instead of steel, which saved 4.2 kg (9.2 pounds). The use of lightweight components, including aluminum front suspension links and steel rear suspension links with lightening holes, in the new five-link rear suspension system contributed to a 12 kg (26-pound) reduction in the overall suspension weight. With the lighter, stiffer architecture and more powerful engines, the Gen Six Camaro V-8 delivers better lap times than the fifth-generation. “The driving experience is significantly different,” said Aaron Link, lead development engineer. “Immediately, you will notice how much lighter and more nimble the Camaro feels. That feeling increases when you drive the Camaro harder - it brakes more powerfully, dives into corners quicker, and accelerates faster than ever.” The Camaro features a new, multi-link MacPherson strut front suspension with Camaro-specific geometry. The double-pivot design provides a more precise feeling of control, including more linear and communicative feel from the quick-ratio electric power steering system. At the rear, a new five-link independent suspension yields outstanding wheel control and reduces “squat” during acceleration. In addition, the Magnetic Ride Control is available on the Camaro V-8 for the first time. The active suspension reads road and driving conditions 1,000 times per second, and automatically adjusts the damper settings to optimize ride comfort and control. All Camaro models offer Brembo brakes - they're standard on V-8 - that are optimized for the car's mass and performance capability. On Camaro LT, the available brakes include 320 mm (12.6-inch) front rotors with four-piston calipers and 12.4-inch (315 mm) rear rotors with single-piston sliding calipers. Camaro V-8 employs 345 mm (13.6-inch) front rotors with four-piston fixed calipers and 338 mm (13.3-inch) rear rotors with four-piston fixed calipers. In Europe, both the Camaro LT and V-8 feature standard 20-inch aluminum wheels. More powerful and efficient The new Camaro will be offered with three different powertrain combinations, each designed to deliver improved performance and efficiency. The Camaro LT's standard engine is a new 2.0L Turbo, rated at an SAE-certified 275 horsepower (205 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. For power on demand, it offers a wide torque band with 90 percent of peak torque available from 2,100 rpm to 3,000 rpm, and maximum torque from 3,000 to 4,500 rpm. The 2.0L turbo is expected to deliver 0-100 km/h acceleration in six seconds (0-60 mph in less than six seconds) and consume below 8 l/100 km (offer more than 30 US mpg on the highway (GM-estimated), making it the most fuel-efficient Camaro ever. This 2.0L turbo engine is offered with the all-new Hydra-Matic 8L45 paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission. It's based on the Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed, but scaled for the performance envelope of the smaller engine and offering an estimated 5-percent efficiency improvement over a comparable six-speed automatic. Camaro V-8 is powered by the 6.2L LT1 engine introduced on the Corvette Stingray. About 20 percent of the components are specific for the Camaro's architecture, including new, tubular “tri-Y”-type exhaust manifolds. It also offers advanced technologies such as variable valve timing, direct injection and Active Fuel Management (on automatic-equipped models) to help balance efficiency and performance. Output is SAE-certified at 455 horsepower (339 kW) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque, making it the most-powerful Camaro officially distributed in Europe SS ever. The LT1 engine is available with a standard six-speed manual transmission - with new Active Rev Match technology that “blips” the throttle for perfectly timed downshifts - or the Hydra-Matic 8L90 paddle-shift eight-speed automatic. Both engines have been carefully tuned for a distinctive performance sound. All 2.0L turbo models feature active noise cancellation, which uses sound waves to cancel unwanted cabin noise. European versions equipped with the standard Bose audio system also feature engine sound enhancement, which amplifies the native sounds of the 2.0L turbo engine - and can be disabled based on the driver's preference. The 6.2L V-8 features mechanical sound enhancers - resonators that direct induction noise from the engine bay into the cabin. This engine is available with a dual-mode exhaust, which features electronically controlled valves that bypass the mufflers under acceleration, delivering improved performance and greater sound levels. With the dual-mode exhaust, drivers can personalize the exhaust sound, from a “stealth” mode to the most aggressive “track” mode. Compact, athletic design The exterior of the Camaro is more sculpted and more muscular effect that makes the new car look significantly lower and wider than before, even though it is within two inches of the exterior dimensions of the current Camaro: “From every angle, you'll never mistake this for anything but a Camaro,” said Tom Peters, design director. “We've taken that iconic design and amplified its proportions to reflect a more dynamic driving experience - like the T-shirt on a muscular physique.” The front of the Camaro is defined by a cross-car grille/headlamp aperture, a signature cue that dates to the first generation. The new, expressive execution gives the Camaro a stronger, more determined face. It also displays a new, nearly fastback profile that flows into the pronounced haunches of the rear fenders, enhancing the wider, more aggressive stance. A more expressive take on the taillamps blends the horizontal aesthetic of the first generation with a dual-element theme and aggressive tapers for a contemporary appearance. Additionally, V-8 models have a unique rear spoiler. Standard lighting on LT and V-8 models includes high-intensity discharge, or HID, projector-beam headlamps and LED “signature lighting” daytime running lights - including a sweeping LED lightpipe integrated in the headlamp and an LED light pipe integrated into the front fascia. LT and V-8 models also feature LED lighting for the rear taillamps, including auxiliary LED light guides that mirror the shape of the front signature lighting. In many cases, the exterior design not only communicates the performance capabilities of the new Camaro, but contributes to them. For example, the teams spent more than 350 hours testing the Camaro in the wind tunnel, meticulously tailoring the exterior to improve cooling and reduce aerodynamic lift and drag. Aerodynamic details include a subtle “air curtain” on the front fascia, which guides air around the wheels rather than into the wheelhouses, reducing drag. Also, the Camaro V-8 has a unique front fascia with integrated brake cooling ducts and a unique hood with functional air vents, which improve engine cooling and reduce front lift. All models share a more pronounced, sculpted roof panel that improves the structural rigidity of the roof for greater refinement. The roof is assembled using laser brazing, eliminating the need for “ditch channel” seams and cover trim, giving the car a sleeker appearance while saving half a kilogram compared to traditional spot welding. There's also a new interpretation of the Camaro's iconic red, white and blue “banner” insignia, displayed on the front fenders. Driver-focused interior and technologies Like the exterior, the interior is completely new yet instantly recognizable. The instrument panel, for example, is a departure from the previous model, but retains the Camaro's familiar dual-binnacle-style instrument cluster hood. “Given the level of technology and performance, the interior had to be modern and driver focused.” said Ryan Vaughan, interior design manager. “But although the interior is an all new design, it is still instinctively recognizable as a Camaro.” The instrument cluster features analog instruments to provide the driver with essential performance information, as well as an available eight-inch-diagonal high-definition center screen that can be configured to provide additional information including navigation, performance, and infotainment features. Another eight-inch screen, integrated in the center of the instrument panel, serves as the interface for the enhanced, next-generation MyLink system. The new center console and center stack are designed with high performance driving in mind. For example, the heating and cooling controls are integrated into rings surrounding the air ducts. Eliminating the associated buttons makes the cabin feel more spacious, and makes adjusting the temperature easy while keeping your eyes on the road. An electronic parking brake replaces the previous mechanical parking brake handle. This enabled the cup holders to be repositioned for improved range of motion when shifting in manual-transmission models. An available, segment-first LED ambient lighting system, integrated in the dash, door panels and center console, offers 24 different colors, as well as fade and transition effects that spread across the interior. There's even a theatrical “car show” mode that cycles randomly through the entire color spectrum when the Camaro is parked. The ambient lighting is one of eight attributes the driver can adjust using the Camaro's new Driver Mode Selector- accessed via a switch on the center console. Here is a really nice example of a 1967 Nova SS. It is a true 118 car with a 4-speed Muncie transmission. The 1967 Nova SS with 4-speed transmission is one of the most popular and sought-after novas. As described below, the car is not numbers matching, but is still a beautiful example of a 2nd generation Nova.
